When I am not rushed out of the examining room, why would I resent him taking time with the patients ahead of me? Being a caregiver, I have seen a few medical professionals that are not as efficient as Dr Sawkiw. Please feel free to leave his practice so he has more time for those of us who appreciate him.

Worst experience I've ever had with a family doctor. They book so far in advance (1-2 months), cancel appointments day of (the last time it was 15 minutes before my appointment, I was already on my way). Ince you finally get into the office it's a 2-3 hour wait every single time. Office is NOT wheelchair accessible (no accessible button, tiny and cramped). Dr. Sawkiw himself is unkind and unhelpful. Will leave the practice the second I am able to.

It is now 2019. Now a coroner wait time is so much longer. Months !! To make an appointment and wait time in his office is ridiculous. At times 2 hour wait. He is. great Dr. though. Sometimes goes above and beyond !!

Wait times are always terrible, on average I'd say it takes at least an hour and a half beyond appointment time to see him, though I've waited as long as 3 hours. Staff are often unfriendly bordering on rude. Dr is very unhelpful and old school. If I could get in to with another family dr I would leave in a second.

I went into see Dr. sawkiw 5 times in a 2 week span due to some symptoms that were keeping me from living a normal life (extreme pain among other things), he kept telling me it wasn’t as big a deal as I was making it, my 5th visit he told me I needed emergency surgery the next day. I was not very impressed. He has been my family doctor since I was born and he is very knowledgeable in some aspects, I just wish he would’ve taken my complaints more seriously and realized my issue from the first or second visit. He now works very well with me to ensure I stay healthy and makes sure I have what I need, but it could’ve been dealt with better.

Dr. Sawkiw is my 84 year old mother’s doctor. I am her only child and I live several hours away from Sudbury. I am facing many challenges with her health, mentally and physically as she ages and it is very worrisome. I have made appointments and travelled to Sudbury three times in the past 18 months to see him and discuss my concerns and options regarding my mother. She had a bad fall five days ago and again, I called the office and asked that he call me. I am still waiting. Simone is very compassionate when I speak with and I am sure she is doing her best. The doctor is the problem. He is useless and no help in times of crisis!

He has been my doctor since 1989, took me on because of the fact I was dating one of his patients and didn't have a family doctor of my own. Over the years he has helped me through some rough times (death of my parents) It was nice knowing that my fathers death was being taken care of by him, and he took the time to explain to me what happened, but him being one of Sudbury's coroners is also a problem. I have waited months for an appointment only to be cancelled the day of because someone has died, yes I feel bad for that family for their loss but I also understand he is not the only coroner in Sudbury (do coroner fees pay better than OHIP???) As for wait times...it doesn't matter what time you walk in there Simone will tell you "45 minute wait" I have had an appointment at 7am and been told that, how does someone get behind that early in the morning? Even when my husband came with me to get results, Simone made a point of telling me not to ask for Dr. Sawkiw to accept my husband as a patient, he has his own doctor, that he can get an appointment with the next day, why would he want a doctor that makes you wait months. when it comes to his presciptions math is not his strong suit, I have been given a prescription for 30 pills for a month but the directions tell me to take 2 a day and no refills, my pharmacist is constantly faxing requests for refills that sometimes take days to receive a reply. I think it is time for him to retire...

Yes, to get an appointment is to be scheduled in months. Also, when waiting in the office, it takes an extremely long time. This is because he listens to his patients. When you get the chance to meet with him in his office he is not only helpful and knowledgeable, he listens to every concern you have. You will never feel rushed or helpless when talking to this man. Many doctors have a rule in place: one problem per appointment, because they bill OHIP by appointment. I came to him for multiple issues I was having including my anxiety, and he related to me telling me that he used to get very stressed about all the people waiting in his office, and he had to go see someone to learn how to deal with that. He assured me there was no harm in getting extra help when you need it by personal experience. Best doctor.

Wait times are always ridiculous. The staff are most unhelpful and often rude. The phone hours are ridiculous and lines are often busy. He has far too many clients to operate efficiently. I've had issues with patient confidentiality (computer with previous patient records left open nearly every time I come in). I've also had issues with follow up of medical conditions and tests. He is very kind and his bedside manners are excellent, but overall the service he and his team provide is far below my expectations of what a family physician should be.
