The office presents a negative attitude and disposition. There is a note on the office window about electronic prescriptions and that they will not phone in prescriptions. They want prescriptions sent electronically; however, if the prescription is new, you are new to a pharmacy, of if there is a problem with the pharmacies computer system -- you will not get your prescription filled. There is a check in the office window for one cent $.01 from an insurance company. This shows the overall sarcasm of the Dr. Burka and his staff. It costs a minimum of $5.00 to park in the garage in the building. You could drive around the building for 20 minutes looking for a parking spot and still find nothing. Dr. Burka will rarely look up from his tablet to look at you. He is so rushed and unconcerned. It is as if he is tired of being a doctor. The vibe seems to be that they want you to get to a worse condition (dialysis) so that they can charge you more than a simple $150.00 for an office visit. Or, they want to indicate that they really do not need ordinary patients and they could care less if you live or die. Dr. Burka's office performs assembly line nephrology to maximize profit. The assistant Terry/Terri is rude. These are my opinions, try the office if you wish.

Dr Burka has one of the most valuable traits a doctor can have if you are ever hospitalized. He shows up! If you have kidney problems he is an invaluable doctor.

Dr. Stephen Burka holds regular office hours and is staff to a couple major hospitals in the DC area. His office staff are polite, and his manner is one of caring and helpfulness in times of stress and concern. He will not push you into any treatment plans, but he will do what he can if you let him. If you need his help with Kidney issues, then I highly recommend you make an appointment with him as soon as possible. He is someone who I not only trust, but appreciate seeing from time to time.
