I had a lumpectomy back in 2014. It was small and should not have come back but 9 years later it's returned. I believe Dr. McFayden did the best he could based on the knowledge and skills he was schooled with. But if I had to do it all again, I really wish I had the option to choose my doctors. Dr. McFayden is cold and unemotional. He immediately left for home after my surgery not to even to come talk to my family where where waiting outside. The nurses at the hospital where good as good can be but some of the other staff were terrible. I had to wait an hour for someone to wheel me out. I could have walked. The Canadian system is so harsh. It's pretty invasive surgery but you are an out-patient. Seriously take the time to reconsider your options before going ahead.

I was referred to Dr. McFadyen in 2016 for DCIS in one breast. He suggested a lumpectomy and radiation. I had full mantle radiation for Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 1986 and was told then I could not have any more radiation. Doctor said "that was a long time ago and I have never heard of anyone getting breast cancer from previous radiation therapy." He asked if I wanted to see a radiation oncologist to consult with. Not only did the radiation doctor agree with me, he suggested I have a bilateral mastectomy because of my cancer history. (I asked for an honest answer and he said he was talking to me like I was his sister) Dr. McFadyen said he was totally surprised by this recommendation. Needless to say I asked for a referral to another surgeon. After my surgery, my pathology showed I actually had stage one breast cancer in both breasts. I am so glad I followed the recommendation of the radiation oncologist (I cannot remember his name :( ) If I had listened to Dr McFadyen my outcome would have been very different.

I waited 5 years to write this review because I wanted to make sure I was being calm and fair...I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2014 and was referred to this doctor. I did not get a surgery date until November 2014 after I had a meltdown talking to the social worker at Credit Valley Because I hadn’t yet received a surgery date. She told me that I had obviously fallen through the cracks – this man was responsible for booking my date. The five month wait for surgery was horrid and by the time I had it done my cancer had progressed from DCIS into invasive cancer. This individual is arrogant, unapproachable, and is much more interested in his administrative duties then in his patients. RUN

Love this man! Dr. McFadyen aced my lumpectomy with perfect margins which is the priority, right? Further, he exceeded expectations, leaving no impression in the breast and only a delicate little scar. A composite professional with very high standards who delivers exceptional care. I'm that patient who needs to understand every detail. Dr. McFadyen tolerated my 1000 questions very well. He followed up thoroughly, even calling to check on me while he was on vacation.

Yes, he's busy and can be brisk but our health care system is overwhelmed. It's a professional service, a professional relationship where they manage our illness and the system and we manage our expectations and emotional burden.

I would not be alive with out this man. After seeing 4-5 surgeons he was the only one who could help me. I had a very large cyst (over ten pounds) on my spleen. He calmly and professionally explained my options/risk. He visited me in hospital days after having it out to see how i was doing, and also to explain everything that had gone on. (Initially thought it was the size of a pea) while operating discovered it in fact was a bigger than a watermelon. with my parents waiting, he took the time to go and see them in waiting room to explain i wouldn't be done for 6+ hours. Classy doctor, highly skilled! recommend to anyone!

He is rude, arrogant, so full of himself. Don't let him waste your time or make money on you. Don't think I'll ever recommend him to anyone I like.

I was impressed with his calmness, professionalism, and knowledge. He is an extremely busy doctor but was patient and answered all our questions before and after surgery. I wish he could be our family physician.

I was diagnosed with breast concern Aug, 2015 and had surgeries done by Dr. McFadyen in September and October 2015. I found Dr. McFadyen very professional , knowledgeable and helpful. He explains everything in simple "english" instead of using sophisticated medical terms.
Dr. McFadyen is an excellent surgeon. I would like to thank Dr. McFadyen for his skill and expertise.
