I know Dr. Applegate is knowledgeable about her field of expertise. I appreciate Dr. Applegate seeing my granddaughter of 7 years old. I had a cerebral hemorrhage when I was 12 yrs. old. I was not suppose to live through it. It has been 35 yrs. now, chronic pain and memory problems, depending on my level of pain. I now deal with seizures more than ever. Dr. Applegate's knowledge of everything when it comes to this condition being hereditary was impressive and I appreciate everything she has done for my granddaughter. Her staff (specifically a male nurse), I am not happy with!! Hopefully he was just having a very bad day that day.

I was seen by Dr. Applegate on 12/8/14 for severe back pain that started back in 2002. I'm 38 years old, a Wife and Mother of 4 children who works full time. My work and life is causing me severe pain and I'm not able to enjoy life anymore. She ordered an MRI and on 12/14/14 found that I needed to be sent to a surgeon. At that time I was also informed that they had misfiled my chart and couldn't find it. I saw Dr. Green the next morning, he diagnosed with Severe Spinal and Cervical Stenosis that is severely pinching my Spinal Cord that needed surgery soon. Dr. Green told me that until the surgery it is very important that I not fall, get into an accident or lift more than 10lbs that it could cause me to be paralyzed. I wanted to seek a second opinion by a Dr. at the Springfield Spine Institute at Cox. He said he would be happy to refer me to a Cox Dr due to my Insurance. Trying to get either office to send them my referral has been a nightmare. I have called Dr. Applegates office numerous times each week checking on my referral and even spoke to Dr. Applegate herself on 1/7/14 when I was in extreme pain and was told the referral was going to be done that day for sure.I called in the morning of 1/9/14 at the office of Dr. Salim Rahman the Doctor I want to see at Cox they still have not received my referral. I called Dr. Applegate's office again and they said they must of had the wrong fax#. I called again at 1pm and got the same answer, so I was prepared with the correct fax# for them (um is this my job??) So I still don't have my referral for the new Dr!! This is unacceptable and I should have known better than to deal with anyone at OMC and will NOT be having surgery there EVER especially if I will be treated the same for my surgery, post op appointments and future care! My recovery will be 6 months and knowing the way I've already been treated is very disheartening to me and my family. I'm not letting anyone in the OMC Family of Doctor's get anywhere near my Spinal Cord now. Making the trip to Springfield may cost more and be a little in convenient for those of us on the East side but take it from me, I think we all will feel much better knowing we will be in better hands and get better care there than with OMC Doctors.

seems to be busy all the time doing nothing. makes decisions without inquiring of prior doctors which makes for inaccurate diagnosis. pushes treatments with dangerous side effects with doubtful benefits.

I never got to see the neurologist. The tech was the only one we saw, was in quite a hurry, and told us we were free to go. We observed that the computer did all the work, printing out the report. Dr. Applegate took two weeks to sign and snail mail it, even though my condition is time critical and my doctor asked multiple times for it to be faxed ASAP. In her waiting room, non-patients were trying to talk patients into bringing their motorcycles in to their church for a blessing or otherwise they would get in a wreck.

how refreshing to find a physician that listens. Accurate at diagnosis; explained all of the tests. Staff were kind and took extra care to make sure that my medication list was accurate.

Dr. Applegate has treated me for at least 10 years. I suffer from bipolar affective disorder, and she is better than any of the shrinks I saw before her both in MO and CA She is a brillant woman with a great deal of empathy. She is also very good at moniroring my meds, which are the most important aspect of my treatment. She is late because she works at a hospital clinic and everybody takes too much of her time because she is concerned with her patients.

This is the second time I have had to deal with Clara Applegate. Both times she has put my child at risk because of her lack of knowledge and/or lack of care.
