I have never been treated worse in my life. She was on shift when I was induced to deliver my son. She was wholly dismissive and nasty about my birth plan, had zero care about my choices (mind you, the baby was at no point in distress). She entered the room like a tornado and expected me to just bend to a ton of invasive procedures I expressly didn't want. When I tried to slow her down and even have a chance to breathe, to think about all the things she was demanding and to discuss them with my doula (considering she conveniently only entered my room the few brief times my doula was not present), she snapped at me, "You don't need a doula. You need a psychiatrist!" Never in my life have I been treated so unprofessionally, rudely and disrespectfully. I actually scheduled a C-section for later that day, when she went off shift, just so this woman would not come close to touching me or my son ever again. I cannot express enough how traumatizing this was or how unbelievably horrible she was. She didn't listen, didn't care. I was a job. She knew all, her word was law and to be enforced immediately without consent or consideration, to heck with my comfort, wishes, etc. Even the nursing staff at INOVA Alexandria seemed completely bothered by her. When we decided to "fire" her and schedule the c-section, all my nurses did what they could to help make it all work. They, as professionally as they could, confirmed it wasn't just me, that this was just how she was and that they were very sorry.

The first time I had an appointment with Dr. McKnight, I thought that I had found the perfect OBGYN. However, on my second visit regarding my same concern ( Pelvic pain), she was dismissive. She did not want to explore my situation and did not care about getting to the root of my concern. She was a "know it all" and didn't even wait for me to completely explain my symptoms. My pap smear was done in a hurry and when i asked her questions she spoke to me abuptly and like a child. I will never go back to her.

I've been seeing Dr. McKnight every year since she delivered one of my children 18 years ago. Love her and love her nurse Mimi.

I went to Dr. McKnights office once and decided in the first five minutes that I would not be returning. The receptionist did not respect my privacy, was not helpful, seemed to not care, and was extremely rude. I felt like she was doing me a favor to even talk to me. During my visit with Dr. McKnight I felt her bedside manner was very indifferent and cold. Instead of explaining things to me she gave me phamplets and told me to read them. I would not recommend her or this office to my worst enemy.

McKnight is rushed and rude. I went to her for a couple years before I gave up and started seeing Dr. Hibshman, another doctor in the same practice. I highly recommend avoiding her, despite some of the other more positive comments.

My second baby was born via C-section. Dr McKnight was on call the day my water broke. What was suppose to be a joyful day, turned into horror. I had issues with monitoring contractions and baby's heart beat via "strap on" monitors (I am a plus size woman). Dr McKnight ordered internal monitoring. As she was getting ready to place the internal monitor, she seemed to get really frustrated and before she even inserted the monitors, she ordered a C section. My husband and I tried to get some explanation to why and what exactly is wrong and she became extremely irritated with us and told us that the baby is not doing well. First of all how can you tell if the monitors are not placed and second, at the times when the "strap on" monitors were working, there was no indication that baby was in destress. I ended up with medically unnecessary C-section and depression - I was reliving every moment of this birth over and over again. My nightmare was Dr McKnight. I left the practice.

I do agree that the staff could be mcuh friendlier and helpful, but I found Dr. McKnight to be pleasant and knowledgeable.

Dr. McKnight is one of my favorite doctors of all time. I've had over 15 years experience with her. She had me laughing during my episiotomy--now that's a real gift! :) She has a clear-eyed view of the world & your medical treatment that I find very refreshing. I have complete confidence in her. I find her smart, empathetic & her great sense of humor is a real bonus.
