I was referred to Dr. Lord by my gastro doctor due to barretts esophagus and acid reflux with a hiatel hernia. Dr. Lord barely looked at those issues in my chart at my first visit all he was concerned about was "We are doing gastric bypass otherwise anything else won't work" I'm always one to listen to a doctor so ok... a month or so later I decided that's not what I wanted, he said it would make me lose 100lbs...I managed to lose 15lbs on my own and the dietician said that I wouldn't need that surgery. A lot didn't sit right with me so I emailed his staff told them I didn't want it. I contacted my gastro doc and they said I don't need it and that not what the referral was for. So Dr. Lord requested I get an EGD done so he did that said he couldn't find the hernia and since then has had his staff calling me to get me to come in to discuss gastric bypass. What part of I DONT WANT THIS SURGERY did he not understand. My gastro doc is sending me to another surgeon in another state. This is ridiculous!!!

Have been dealing with Dr. Lord since 8/11 was very optimistic upon initial surgery since my reason was to repair a previous surgery. But having had to deal with him with unforeseen issues I am extremely disappointed, his attitude is I didn't do anything wrong - not my fault and displayed no compassion toward what I was experiencing. I have had nothing but pain since the surgery with no relief...my last visit he basically said I need to find another Dr or learn to live with the pain....which is unacceptable for me. I have vocalized my problems with him & his attitude is you need to find someone else. I find him lacking in compassion & empathy to my issue & would not recommend him.

Dr. Lord isn't running a charity so, of course, he's "in it for the money." That said, he is an expert in bariatric surgery and I highly recommend him. He's straight and to the point regarding your case and he is thorough in your evaluation, surgery, and follow-up. I'm 8 months past surgery and I'm doing FANTASTIC!!!!! His staff is tops, too!

As a RN who has worked along side Dr Lord, at Sacred Heart Hosptial, I can honestly say his primary focus it $$$$$. He works hard at selling the product "bariatric surgery" and that's a real turn off for me. He has a great record as far as skill & that's why I sent my husband to him. Had I worked with him, prior to my husbands surgery, I would have been really struggled with the decision to proceed with his bariatric surgery. I find it unsettling to hear a MD discuss, openly with another MD, how much he will bring in $$$ per procedure, brag about how "rich" he is, and I've seen patient records falsified to justify insurance coverage for bariatric surgery. Patients have no idea what he has put in the history, and it's probably best they didn't see it.

Dr. Lord is a very caring doctor. He explains things and does not rush through. The only problem I have is with the amount of time it takes to get a phone call back from the office. He normally always calls right back if after hours, his staff usually takes a couple days

Dr. Lord has a great manner about him. He is very knowlegable and sure of his abilities. He has a great supportive staff. His bedside manner is impecable. I highly reccomend him to anyone looking into this surgery. I am almost 10 weeks out and have not had any complications at all. I did not have one negative instance with him or the process at all. I even traveled 2 hours just to use him.
