Dr Fonteyne was the best, still is where ever he may be. My Husband Ken loved visiting him. Such a loss when he retired, the doc I now have sent me a letter saying he cannot be my doc any long, I need to move on, I have been apart of that office for close to 20 yrs.

Dr. Fonteyne was my GP for years and I was devastated to find out he was retiring. I'm not sure if he was *actually* retiring, or moving to another province, but it's a big loss for his patients either way. He was the only doctor I ever saw who truly listened to your thoughts and/or suggestions, and didn't brush-off your concerns. I wish him the very best, whatever he is.

He was a great doctor. He listened to my concerns and showed empathy and understanding. Sad that he has retired and I’m struggling to find a new doctor that is taking new patients and meets a similar level of care.

Dr Fonteyne is an amazing, caring and personable doctor. We have depended on him for over 20 years and he has never let us down. So sad to see him leave.

I was a patient of Dr. Fonteyne for many years and I agree with some of the negative reviews. He seemed to want to deflect direct health questions and avoid providing a clear explanations. Like many other doctors he was offended by me doing my own research on the internet and questioning him about my findings. After years of going around in circles about my health issues we finally obtained evidence of a serious problem but this was only obtained after another doctor recommended specific tests that he at first refused to provide. Once we had results he misdiagnosed those tests. This is just a part of what went on over the years with him and many other doctors in Edmonton. I wonder if there are any GP's left that take ethics seriously or have they all been sold out to the medicine companies that buy their way into our medical offices to ensure their pills end up in your body.

I have been going to Dr. Fonteyne for almost 20 years so am heartbroken he has retired. I had hoped for at least another 20. He has been wonderful to my entire family and I know many friends who have went to him. Guess I might be looking for a new one outside of that practice because i only went there because of him. The front desk staff were not the friendliest and even when I got a call to review test results I was rudely told about his retirement and that I would be meeting with someone else! Let’s see how that appt goes. If I’m not comfortable then I’ll be looking elsewhere!

Just found out that he has been keeping test results from me for years and not telling me about how bad my health was or my diagnoses. I am incredibly angry and disappointed in him. My advice is to ask for all lab work to be reviewed by another doctor so you can actually get answers. I found out that he let things get so bad I may never recover. I was increasingly annoyed that he wasn’t helping me and felt dismissed each time I brought concerns to him but he kept saying I was fine, which I am clearly not. Terrible doctor and I am so relieved that I won’t ever see him again.

Incredible doctor! He's been seeing my family for 20+ years! Sad to hear he's retiring, but so lucky to have had him as a doctor.
