This is a follow-up to my 8/25/2008 posting. My Mother nearly went blind due to the cornea transplant surgery that Dr. Katz performed on her. She did not know how to do a cornea transplant and probably used my Mother as a guina pig becasue she is a senior citizen. She botched the first cornea transplant but was so nice she compensated for her lact of experience. My Mom was is so much pain. The transplant didn't take and Dr. Katz performed a second transplant. She lost her iris during the surgery causing her retina to swell. She was walking around blind for a year. My sister and I took her up North to Johns Hopkins and she finally got the proper guidance. She recently had her third cornea transplant and she is finally able to see. Dr. Katz really botched her eye big time to the point that it will take a few months for the swelling to go down. DON'T GO TO DR. KATZ FOR A CORNEA TRANSPLANT!!!

After seeing 7 Eye doctors, including Ft. Laud eye inst and 2 years at Bascom Palmer, I couldn't take the 8 hour days for 10 min w/a doc and 6 months to get an appt., and no response to phone calls and doctors who treat you like a lab specimen anymore and took a risk on a private practice. Dr. Katz was better than any of the well-known, top rated in the field doctors I saw. She knew all about my eye disease, had suggestions for me, took time to talk to me, didn't gasp when looking at my eye, understood all my other medical problems, took me in as an emergency patient when I couldn't get into my long time doc. She was friendly, knowledgable, and I cried happy tears that I finally have a doc I don't have to agonize about before going to the appt. or calling about a flare up. I was so pleasantly surprised that I found a doc who cares and treated me so nicely and didn't repeat the hugely costly tests that I've been through 5 times already. She's really terrific!

Dr. Katz is first class. Not only is she fastidious about her work and profession, she is as dedicated and caring to her patients. She treats you like a human being. My sister and I (both of us live in NY/NJ) took our Mom to the best eye doctors for two years and she refused to be operated on by the other doctors (including the top renowed doctor in Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami). Our Mom was operated on by doctor Katz and she was beyond our expectations. If I could give her a rating of 100, I don't that would be high enough. I only wish there was someone like her in our neck of the woods. SHE IS WONDERFUL!!!
