This doctor was the worst experience of my life to this day. I was transferred to the hospital for perineal repair after a home birth, and felt punished from the start with his terrible attitude toward homebirthing and midwifery. My doula and partner were there waiting with me for seven hours before I finally went into the O.R. for "better lighting" so he claimed. Fine. But then when I pleaded for one of them to follow me back he refused adamantly, saying there's no room for any other occupants. Myself and my party were nothing but polite this whole duration and only inquired with the nurses briefly on updates and asking for Tylenol for the creeping discomfort, 4 hours after being there which was also refused due to the procedure. Also fine. What was NOT fine was laying on a hospital bed for several hours after near hemorrhaging in labor (pitocin was administered to stop bleeding). Being robbed of those precious bonding moments with my baby upon giving birth, as he stayed home with my mother for the procedure I imagined would be over in just a couple hours.
Then when I go back into room, feeling starved, weak, in shock, and now alone .. this doctor was insensitive, rough, claimed I over reacted to touch when I told him I felt pain while stitching, had to administer more numbing twice as he rushed through this procedure without care or informed consent. Even through that trauma and pain, I thanked the doctor for stitching me and got no acknowledgement until I thanked again more loudly and the accompanying NURSE had to reiterate and call his attention to RESPOND.
I hope no one has to deal with this level of trauma again. This man should not be practicing medicine.
