I would never recommend dr. Calin to anybody his inability to prescribe the appropriate dosage for medicine almost killed me his nurse is the rudest person I have ever dealt with in my life this is not an office that you want to go to if you want to stay alive

I've been going to Dr. Cowan's office, which is named "Primary Care Specialists", for around 3 years. I've never met or been treated by Dr. Cowans This is a review of his staff. I've never even seen a doctor at this practice. I've always been treated by a Physician's Assistant.
The receptionist/phone/appointment person is terrible with customer service and trying to help with patient/customer concerns. She absolutely does not listen or try to help. A Very rude person.The assistant to the Physician Assistant doesn't answer the phone which is understandable because I know they are busy with patients but she also never returns phone calls after leaving voice messages. Overall, the customer service is one of the worst that I have ever experienced at a business.
On the other hand, my Physician Assistant Paul Hutschenreuter is really great! He was the reason I kept going there for 3+ years. He listens to you and shows great concern for you and makes you feel comfortable being at the Doctor's office.
However, after the terrible customer service I received from the front desk and the Physician's Assistant, I have transferred to another doctor's office that I was referred to. It is understandable why the website of Primary Care Specialists on Orange Avenue has a banner that says "NOW ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS". Sounds like they are losing old patients to bad customer service. As a General Manager of a business in Orlando, I know that you have to treat customers like gold and try to help them in any way you can. This business needs an attitude adjustment up front or they might need a bigger banner on their website.

Dr Cowan is a wonderful Dr and his nurse was very helpful, I would recommend this office!!!

I must begin by saying that I did not see Dr. Cowan. I saw Paul, his PA, for a general wellness checkup. As usually the case, he asked lots of questions about lifestyle, etc., but not once about immunizations or STDs. After finding out that I am homosexual, he immediately asked how long it had been since I had had an HIV test. I was completely caught off guard. So I just answered the question. From there, he went back to the original string of questions. I have spoken with a couple of doctors that are in the family, and this is not a normal question especially within the given context. If you are LGBT, do not go to this discriminatory office!

Dr. Cowan is an excellent doctor. He is extremely patient and knowledgeable (internal medicine and pediatrics). He has always contacted our family in a timely manner when someone was sick after hours. He puts much thought into his diagnosis. We have found his staff to be helpful and pleasant in every way. We would recommend Dr. Cowan without hesitation to all of our friends and family.

Since 1990 Dr. David Cowan has been our family physician and pediatrician. His careful attention to our needs is beyond any care we've ever experienced. His diagnostic skills are exceptional. Dr. Cowan took my parents as new patients, who were experiencing health issues, after their former family practice physician, as well as an internist and an orthopaedist missed diseases like metastatic bone cancer (mother) and cardiomyopathy (father). Dr. Cowan carefully listened and discovered what others had missed. Our youngest child (now 22) and our six grandchildren have been cared for by Dr. Cowan since birth. He is available after hours and has even made a house visit in one extreme situation. We have complete confidence in Dr. David Cowan, MD.

I cannot state strongly enough how mistreated we were by Gail, Dr. Cowan’s self described, “gate keeper.” This was about a referral for a second opinion. Gail would not have Dr. Cowan give me the referral because she mistakenly believes that my relationship with my insurance, Cigna, and who would pay for the appointment that I would be making with another doctor for a second opinion was her responsibility. I asked her again to let me deal with my insurance, all I needed was a second referral to a second specialist for a second opinion. She said no. Gail also violated my medical privacy and HIPAA protocols to scare my wife into contacting me thru emergency channels, while I was overseas. Is the type of this is the office where you want to receive your health care.

I have been going there for over 6 years and the staff, Dr. Cowan and Paul are professional, compasssionate, knowledgeable and go above and beyond what is expected. They care for their patients. I would go no where else.

I went here for a while and I won't go back!The staff is lazy and rude-DrCowans nurse is abrupt and nasty. Dr Cowan might be a good doctor but he is NOT a great docotr and doesn't give you the time or information you need.
