I was seen very fast at his office in Tampa General. The staff was very nice, with positive energy. Dr. Morrison is a much older man, and his beliefs and knowledge reflect old school medicine and mentality -- especially when it comes to women. I walked in with a TSH of 5.0 labs, weight gain, depression, hair loss, high cholesterol. etc. etc. and a history of hypothyroid in my family. He did not agree to treat my symptoms and instead asked for me to have my labs done at his office (the ones I brought him were only 2 months old) so I agreed. I realized later this was probably his tactic to get rid of me since he declined to provide me with thyroid medication. His words exactly were "the thyroid medication is not good for you" and "there was a study done where women with symptoms like yours were given a placebo and they miracously felt better and their thyroid symptoms were gone"
The result? I waited 6 months to get an appointment with Dr. Morrison and couldn't find any informative reviews that gave me the knowledge that would have needed to not waste my time with him. Now, I will continue to suffer from debilitating symptoms that are ruining my life! In Dr. Morrison's old school mind, it is better for us women to suffer from these symptoms than to take a thyroid medicine that "is not good for us".. Even at the lowest dose. He is ruining the lives of women, if you do decide to wait forever to get your appoitnment, be ready to be sent home without any treatment or solutions except "go back to your PCP"... I truly felt like he was not thinking rationally or intellectually, but instead either exerting some form of control over his female patients by not allowing them to be treated with thyroid medication; or he is for some reason only acting in his own best interest and hidden agenda. Sorry I have ot say this, but it is my opinion and boy do I wish I would have read a review like this 6 months ago so I would not have wasted my time.
