I was born in 1980 with bilateral cleft lip and palet at Tampa General hospital and doctor Habal was sent to see me the day I was born. I was his very first patient here and although my mom didn't know of him put every bit of trust in him. He is amazing and having gone through countless surgeries and doctors visits, often seeing him more than my own family at times,he became more like family to me. I later grew up and became a surgical technologist and on one of my very first times assisting in the OR I was surprised to be in his room. It gave me first hand experience in seeing what I knew all along , that his patients are his # 1 priority. For those that say he is expensive or egotistical I challenge you to revisit the reason for your visit, if it was because of expense then you clearly don't realize that MANY of his procedures are done for low income families who are on medicaid or even no insurance at all. He often offers his services for free to childrenin ppoverty stricken countries. And for those that are wanting to perfect what these children already see as a perfect face, perhaps you should take your egotistical and vain persona to another physician. I amhhappy with my results and wouldn't see another doctor for anything.

I first met Dr. Habal in 1982, when I was 12 years old. He performed my 5th, 6th & 7th surgeries for my cleft lip and palate. The 5th one changed my z-plasty scar to an A-plasty, took cartilage from my ear and reshaped the right side of my nose and attempted to close a hole in the roof of my mouth. This made a huge difference in my looks. At 16, he did an 11 hour surgery for a mid-face advance. I was one of the first patients he tried a new technique on, where all the sutures and cutting were done under the upper lip and he used titanium plates, with screws, so my jaw did not have to be wired shut. At 31, he was able to permanently fix the hole in the roof of my mouth, which had opened again. Dr. Habal is an absolute genius when it comes to repairing craniofacial deformities. His bedside manner with everyone, but the patient can be lacking, but with me, even as an adult, he was extremely caring. For those that commented negatively (looking for a facelift) I have a feeling he has little patience or time for vanity seekers. If you are searching for a world class, leading edge surgeon for your child's or your facial deformity, then please visit Dr. Habal. Don't let his sometimes gruff manner put you off, because the results are amazing.

Dr. Habal loves what he does. This man truly an example of what a doctor should be. I trust him 100%. Has taken care of my daughter since she had her first surgery in 2008. Always looking out for her as if his own. Wise, caring, dedicated and extremely down to earth, with the knowledge ..

I was a patient of his nearly thirty years ago. Born with a cleft lip, palate, and lack of cheek bones. Dr. Habal preformed an untried process on me by which my new check bones (made from my rib and hip bone) were put in place through cuts made inside my mouth (Instead if by cutting open the top of the scalp and folding it down.) I underwent a nine hour operation. I know this was many many years ago, but his caring nature had always stayed with me.

I would trust Dr. Habal with my life! He is a doctor that has PASSION for his work that I have not seen with others. Dr. Habal is a very serious doctor with no frills. This is the kind of doctor I want...straight, honest and to the point.

Dr. Habal has treated my entire family. I am very happy with him and his staff. I was referred to another doctor, not comfortable with her and asked another employee at work who told me to see Dr. Habal and I have never looked back.

Dr Habal has been our daughter's primary surgeon for the myriad of cranial-facial requirements associated with her Apert's Syndrome. I have researched others in his field over the now 20 years he has worked with her and there are none better and many not nearly as good. He is extremely patient oriented. I have no idea how he is with cosmetic surgery but, with regard to the life-threatening issues our daugher faced, we owe him way more than just the money we and our insurance company spent. His office is "eclectic" but, he is not a fan of flash nor overhead. Laura, his assistant, is a no nonsense person as is Dr Habal but she is absolutely remarkable in solving the problems that always come up with complex surgeries. I guess I am, too, so I appreciate both of them.

I went to consultations with nearly every doctor in Tampa before I had my facelift etc. He was the most expensive consultation. But what concerned me the most was the state of his office. He had stacks of magazines two feet high that were years old! And the examining room looked like it was from the 40's! His brusque unknowledgeable manner also concerned me. I was so concerned about hygeine that I never even considered using him again. Especially after I read shortly thereafter about one of those children the other reviewer was talking about having died on the operating table!

He has a big ego, and thinks he can do no wrong. Denies he botched surgery, saying it is suppose to look that way. I am still seeing other surgeons, trying to get somewhat of a normal look after his screw up. I never should have used him for a face lift after he had to re-do another surgery twice to get it right. It's just I read so much about him, and gave him another chance. Never again. He does so well with the poor deformed children he helps, but then I guess they are so bad to begin with, even if you make a mistake here and there while changing their looks for the better, no one is the wiser.
