Biography

Dr. Catherine Gioannetti is a pediatrician who enjoys creating partnerships with her patients and their caretakers. “It is critical that I understand their concerns and that I listen carefully to both my patients and their caregivers,” she said. “Taking the time to explain the medical issue and treatment and giving patients the space and time to ask questions is essential to my practice.” Interested in all areas of general pediatrics, Dr. Gioannetti enjoys working with patients and families to determine the cause of symptoms and the best treatment for their child. Growing up, she enjoyed working with and teaching children and wanted to have a career where she could help others. Her fascination with science and biology led her to study medicine. Dr. Gioannetti received her undergraduate degree in biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her medical degree from the University of Chicago. She moved to Tucson in 1995 to complete pediatric residency training through the University of Arizona. She fell in love with the city and Southern Arizona, and decided to make Tucson her home. “Tucson is a wonderful community to live and work in,” she said. When she is not working, Dr. Gioannetti enjoys hiking, riding bikes, kayaking and exploring the natural world. She also loves travel, cooking, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
