Dr. Li led me through my treatment and recovery from stage 3 colon cancer. He was incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and effective. Most importantly, he was thoughtful, caring, and helpful. He took the extra time to listen and answer all of my questions and was always available. He took my needs and input into consideration during treatment yet never veered from the recommendations he knew were right for my treatment. I owe my survival to Dr. Li

Dr. Li saw me through stage 4 colon cancer and was there to answer questions and provide support to myself and my husband who attended all of my meeting with Dr. Li.
He definitely knows his stuff and explains thigs with very useful metaphors.

I have been seeing Dr. Li for the past 8 months and I have found he and his staff to be attentive, knowledgeable and have responded to any of questions and concerns. The Infusion Center located in the same space as his office is great so that I see him directly during every infusion appointment. He is crazy smart and has always spent the time I needed and provided me with a large amount of information. Every study I have researched he has seen or will follow-up and discuss it at my next appointment. I would highly recommend him to anyone fighting cancer.

I just started seeing Dr. Lee for MF and am floored by the time he spends with us to answer any and all questions my wife and I have. After seeing him twice weeks apart, him having many patients in between, I was walking in the Polyclinic to get tested to see if I could get on a new treatment. It was pissing rain out and 8:10AM, I walked by Dr. Li soaking wet, and quickly said "hello Dr. Li" and kept walking to get my blood work done. 3 steps more I hear "John, your getting your blood work done correct?" And turned around and chatted with him in the hall for a good 10-15 minutes when clearly he was in a rush and on his way out. Dr. Li made me feel super comfortable and knowledgeable about what was next, and that's what I need right now in these early stages of not knowing what the heck is going on with me and what's going to happen with me. Thank you.

I have been seeing Dr Li for about 2 years now. He has always seen me on time and spent what I think was enough time with me. Under his direction, it did take the doctor team about 4 months to find my cancer, but it was a rare and unusual one. However, a PET scan on the first day would have saved a whole lot of tests and several months time, but maybe that is insurance related as I don't think insurance will pay for PET unless you have a cancer diagnosis. He also went against my treatment oncologist who I didn't have a very high opinion of when that Dr wanted to subject me to a harsher treatment. So far I am grateful for this. I have seen a lot of doctors in my cancer battle and he has been the best doctor so far. He works hard and has called me late at night and on the weekend to let me know test results, etc.

This guy is willing to order a bone marrow test after receiving lab test results that, by his own words (I have a witness), were only minimally out of alignement, and more than likely meant nothing and the test itself only means something when you ACTUALLY have cancer (what the hell does that mean). And if you live another 80 years (I'm 57, you might get cancer - and I might get hit by a bus and 57 + 80 would be how old ?) Let's spend thousands and torture someone for a test with results that were only "minimally" deviant.

Li's major flaw is his passivity. He may disregard symptoms that might be a red flag of cancer progression, while a more attentive and attuned doctor might seek immediate diagnostic testing to be sure. Instead, Li might downplay the new symptom as a mere side effect of the treatments, which when dealing with cancer is too dismissive. It could be a sign of metastasis. And sometimes when he is behind on his schedule or hard-pressed for time, he barely spends 5 minutes with the patient - maybe only enough to give the go-ahead for the treatment before leaving (to be sure, that isn't a regular habit). For cancer patients whose cancer cells are active, each appointment is critical for the doctor to be alert for any changes to the patient and react to the new symptoms. But, he does log a great deal of time at the clinic and can be contacted.

His dedication to his patients is extraordinary, as he is a workaholic. But his focus may be distracted by the overwhelming number of patients he treats. This volume definitely affects his hit-and-miss punctuality (sometimes early, sometimes late). Moreover, though he is generally reliable, he's not always on top of matters and sometimes he doesn't follow through on to-do tasks. His intelligence is indisputable but he often can be non-committal and overly cautious in his opinions when you may want definitive answers. Overall, he's a better than average doctor, especially with his devotion, but the best? It's debatable.

Dr. Li is a devoted doctor whose patients can depend on for their care. Though his patient load is voluminous and he's super busy with his practice, any of his patients is assured he is accessible and can be contacted (even during off-appointment hours). Everybody in his staff is the utmost helpful and friendly.
