I love Dr. Lawler and his office so much. I was so happy to find a doctor who not only tolerates patients who use NFP, but in fact doesn't prescribe birth control at all. I am having several gynecological issues now and we have a plan for how to handle them. He looks at my chart and can see what issues we might have and knows that there ARE ways to help and clearly explains what he intends to do. The staff are also very friendly and helpful with insurance questions and whatnot. Highly recommend!

My first visit was when I was 3 weeks pregnant. The fetus was too small to hear the heartbeat but doctor insisted I needed and USG. Of course it didn't show much except for a tiny black dot. I was charged $560 being told it was a missed period. What? I am pregnant and doctor saw my fetus. It should be a part of the pregnancy charges. On the top of it he told me I can have miscarriage based on nothing. Then he sent me for a blood work. My progesterone was in norm but he prescribed super expensive vaginal progesterone $300 for 10 day. I checked at other pharmacy and you can get vaginal progesterone for $30. But that is the only brand he "advertise". He wants to see me every week doing USG - but my baby is still too small! I have insurance , but the first visit only with the blood test and pills costed me $1,000 out of pocket. I find it a fraudulent business. Doctor who didn't spend 5 minutes with me talking to me about pregnancy and giving me tips or asking if I take any medication but charging those kind of money-thank you, I need somebody I will trust. My baby is worth that.

Dr. Lawler and the other doctors in the practice are fantastic. The staff was never less than great as well. They are compassionate and take the time to listen and talk. My experience with them was for prenatal care - I highly recommend!!

Love love love. I have had three children and Lawler made me feel so comfortable as a patient. I actually feel spoiled because now I want my primary care physician to be as caring as Lawler but can't find another doctor as attentive. I will keep going to him and I admire his beliefs. Reading other reviews I was delighted to find out he isn't handing out birth control like it is candy! Our bodies are not meant to be on all these drugs, girls - a lot of problems can come about because of birth control pills. I can't say enough good about Lawler!

I saw Dr Lawler because of an ovarian cyst that was discovered on a previous MRI. I was experiencing extreme back pain, cramps, and nausea. I ended up loosing my job in fact because the pain was so bad. He explained that the back pain was non-gyn related and that my cramps and nausea couldn't be coming from this "tiny" cyst (8cm) and that it couldn't be so bad if I wasn't rushing to the ER. He suggested it would "resolve on it's own" but we should do an ultrasound in 8-12 wks to be sure. I ended up in the ER 3 days later & ultimately had surgery to correct an ovarian torsion. The "tiny", as he called it, cyst flipped my ovary and was cutting off blood supply causing all of the pain and symptoms I described. I thank GOD that I had 2nd & 3rd opinions set up and that I didn't take his advise! Be your own advocate!

My wife and I went to him twice; 1st pregnancy ended in early miscarriage... and he sent us HOME instead of performing the D&C (or at least having us stay in the same hospital for it). We went to another hospital two days later, when she started hemorrhaging. When she was pregnant the second time, Dr. Lawler did not have her come in on her due date, and then when we took ourselves in a few days past it, Dr. Kelly sent us home after 4 hours waiting in a hospital room for my wife to be induced. Our child was finally delivered via emergency c-section TEN DAYS overdue, and I almost lost both of them due to their hesitancy to just take care of things on time. Dr. Lawler is indeed a very respectful man, but we couldn't help wondering about his apparent lack of real concern, and unwillingness to take action when it was called for. We have agreed to never go to him again.

Dr. Lawler is the best Doctor I have been to. He is attentive and respectful. He is one of very few doctors in the Chicago area who cater to the needs of women practicing natural family planning. He does bring his own values into his practice, but I think that it is an indication of how genuine he is in his care for his patients.

I went in for my first pregnancy appointment and when Dr. Lawler did the ultrasound, there was no heartbeat. What was a difficult time for both my husband and I was made a little easier having such a compasionate doctor. Dr. Lawler preformed my D&C a short time later and I will never forget him holding my hand while I cried as I drifted off. Some doctors are just "there" I believe that he is there because he truly cares about his patients. He is a very good doctor, was there for my 3 c-sections.
