Dr. Gofton delivered my son in 2012 and she was simply amazing. Competent, professional, and not prone to panic or hyperbole. She always answered my questions clearly and with sufficient detail that I understood the full-scope of the situation. She once told me that she would tell me if I needed to worry about something - and until that time, I didn't need to be concerned. Informed, yes, worried, no. When things got a little hairy during my delivery and I was in danger of passing out, I remember clearly closing my eyes and saying to myself, "you stay awake and Dr. Gofton will take care of the rest". I had no concerns whatsoever that she would see us both safe through the day. For those who complain she kept them waiting, perhaps you did wait. I waited on occasion too. But that was because there was someone else in the exam room who needed her attention at a critical juncture more than I did. When I needed her critically, someone else waited in the exam room undoubtedly. And that is the way it is supposed to be.

Hands down I would see her again.

After the amazing experience of delivering my son by Dr Gofton, I am so impressed by her skills and experience that I have to rate her here and give her 5 stars! I was 10 days over due and I was so worried to have a c-section when I knew my son would probably be 9 lbs baby according to my ultrasound result (I was only 90 lbs before I was pregnant), but I am so glad I had him vaginal delivery because of Dr Gofton. In the middle of my delivery, she had to run to another labour room because the other baby was in a critical condition, and she was the only doctor at that time. Then she had to give her an emergency C-section. My son was in my pelvic for two hours because of this. I was pretty upset about the waiting especially when my son's heart beat was instable. Once she finished the c-section, she run to my room right away. Because of the timing and my son's size, she had to cut me and use vacuum to suck my baby out, but it was quick. The whole process had only taken 10 mins maximum.

I didn't really like Dr. Gofton. I found that she was always rushed and I never got a chance to ask my questions before she was leaving the room. She wasn't talkative (I like to know what's going on). She just did her stuff and left. She just wasn't for me.

Dr.Gofton delivered my baby via c-section at the QCH. I agree that she was a little cool at first but she was very pleasant to deal with in the short time I saw her (she was not be OB). She was very good about answering my questions prior to surgery. I had a medically complicated pregancy and made to have a cyst removed during my c-section. Dr. Gofton warned me that she may have to remove my ovary to get all the cyst. However, she was able to successfully remove the cyst while leaving my ovary intact. If my regular OB was not available for my next baby, I would happily go with Dr. Gofton.

I would highly recommend that you stay away from her. A very cold, unfriendly, unwelcoming doctor that only cares about her time. Had an ultrasound in my 37th week that indicated that my baby was under the average growth line, instead of reassuring me that things will be ok and to get a second opinion she pretty much told me that " you need to be induced ASAP as you don't want to have a stillborn tomorrow" like? seriously? that is what you tell a patient who is carrying her first child? I also found out that she said the same thing to other patients as she tries to schedule her deliveries. Not once did she stop by in the hospital while I was there for 6 days after giving birth to a jaundice baby. I am planning to have a second child and there is no way that I would ever go back to this doctor. She's full of herself and thinks that her time is important, she makes you wait anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes for every appoint.

This is my second pregnancy with Dr.Gofton as my OB. She always takes the time to answer any questions or address any concerns. She is incredibly calm and competent under pressure. I fully trust her with my and my unborn child's care. She and her staff are so nice and down to earth. I would recommend her and Dr. Thorne's practice in a heartbeat to any woman wishing to deliver at the QCH!

Dr. Gofton may seem to be cold at first, but as she gets to know you she warms up and is a very nice person (everyone has different personalities, for some it takes time to warm up to people she may just be shy). She was very good to me thru my pregnancy and answered all my questions. When any complication came up in my pregnancy she was very concerned and helped me thru it! I would definately recommend her to anyone!

I think Dr Gofton is wonderful and have returned to her for my second pregnancy. I truly believe she (and her partner) are gems in the medical system.
