Dr. Stobie is a scientist, and she approaches visits this way. She assesses issues/concerns and works to come up with solutions. She cares about a good outcome for her patients. It is extremely rare that I ever wait more than 5 mins for an appointment, and her office is flexible with last minute appointments, and with other doctors in her clinic providing coverage if she is not available. My family has been with Dr Stobie for 25 years.

Go somewhere else! Very rude, doesn’t care about helping. Just in it for the money. In my opinion she should be reviewed and loose her license. Not what you want in a family dr at all!

I began seeing Dr. Stobie at the UWaterloo clinic after firing my old family doctor and it was the single best decision I have ever made for my health. I have never interacted with a doctor that has been so compassionate, knowledgeable, and thorough. All concerns I brought to her (even those that were brushed off by my old GP) were taken seriously and addressed. Dr. Stobie is also fantastic at providing body-neutral healthcare, should that be something you are interested in.
One of my favourite things about Dr. Stobie is that she takes the time to explain to you how things work and the timeline of events. "So the next step in looking into this is X.... and if the result of that is W then we will do Z and if the result is Y, then we will look into Q" (as an example). Or, "It could be X, Y, or Z, but here is why I don't thing it is X or Y" for explaining diagnoses. I never feel like I am being left out of medical decisions about my own body and I never feel like I don't know what is going on.
Dr. Stobie is also humble, unlike a lot of doctors. She admits when it is time to refer to a specialist and she admits that she doesn't know everything about everything. My old physician prescribed me a medication she was unfamiliar with and didn't consider how the side effects would be detrimental to my wellbeing, because she wasn't aware of them... she didn't care to look into it. Dr. Stobie stays up to date on things and shows dedication to her patients by doing thorough research on other treatment options or medications to best help her patients. She approaches health holistically, in a sense, considering how symptoms and other indicators may be related or impacting one another.
The day I have to switch doctors after graduating from UWaterloo will be a sad one, but I know that in my time with Dr. Stobie, she has given me the confidence to participate in my medical care and advocate for my health needs.

I have been a patient with Dr. Stobie for almost 20 years. During every single one of my appointments, she has been kind, considerate and compassionate. She is very knowledgeable, and if she’s not 100% certain about something, she will not hesitate to refer to a specialist. Although she is very busy, I have never felt rushed during appointments, and she takes the time to explain things thoroughly. She is especially good with my young daughter, and makes her feel at ease when she visits. I can’t express enough how thankful we are to have Dr. Stobie caring for us. Some of the office staff can be unorganized or distant, but that being said, we go in to be treated by the doctor, not the office staff.

Great doctor being ruined by rude, incompetent and untrained staff. Very poor front office staff.

Front desk staff is very rude, no manners at all. They should hire some office staff properly trained and educated.

Terribly rude, no bedside manner and told me that I was basically faking it. Back to me the entire time. Made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. Went to emergency after because I didn’t feel that she helped me and was rushed in for immediate care. Luckily I know my body.

I did not have to wait long to see her, which was a bonus. However, I would have been willing to wait for a better experience.

She spent the appointment typing on the computer with her back to me. She would ask me a question, and then interrupt my answer with the next question. The appointment ended with her telling me to just stop doing the things that cause me pain. Like walking, kneeling, or anything really involving my leg. Thanks. That was super helpful. Guess I'll just limp right out the door and go to a walk-in clinic, who cares if she gets billed for it.
