Biography

Romana Petrovich "Ms. Mona" has worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for 20 years. She is dually certified in Pediatrics and Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. What is your patient care philosophy? I work with families no matter who they are and partner with them to achieve the best possible outcomes. What would you like people to know about you as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner? No one is too old or too young to learn something about themselves to improve health. Why did you decide to become a Nurse Practitioner? Two reasons. 1. I desired to care for my patients at a level that had an impact on improving their health and changing their lives. 2. My patients through the years have spontaneously encouraged me to pursue higher education. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? First, the patients I serve make it a real joy to say, “I haven’t worked a day in my life.” Second, ours is a most special work in which families have given their trusted permission to work with them through sickness, health, sad times and happy times. What a privilege to be part of these families’ lives through the years and to see successive generations. When did you know you wanted to become an ARNP? Even as a small child, I always knew I wanted to help others. As an RN for several years, there came a point when I wanted to learn so much more, share with families so much more so they in turn could live healthier lives. How does your work improve lives? I’m a big proponent for wellness, healthy lifestyle and practical ways to improve and maintain health for all age groups. With what community and volunteer organizations are you involved? I am very involved in my local Seventh day Adventist church and believe from scripture that Jesus desires health and wellness for all. The Bible is the greatest health teacher. What positive childhood memory do you have about visiting the doctor? Honestly, I remember going to the doctor very little. We were rarely sick as children. I could talk for hours on some of the easy ways that mom kept us healthy on a meager income.
