I came in to see Dr. Hawkins about the problems I've been having with my ankle starting 2 years earlier involving a motorcycle accident. He examined but never touched my ankle 3 seperate times including MRI results. He never diagnosed my problem but said I would need surgery. He then told me that my insurance (Medi-Cal), would never cover it. Instead he sent me to aquatic therapy that only inflamed my condition. Eventually I did find a doctor who actually cared about my ability to walk and work and despite the several damaged tendons; arthritis has now damaged the joint permanently and must be replaced or fused. My insurance does cover the procedures. Overall I got the impression that Dr. Hawkins lacks compassion and isn't interested in difficult problems. Perhaps he prefers disability claims where no procedure is required of him..

I loved my podiatrist, well he was nice and understanding at least but the staff was negligent in verifying if I had insurance or not (which I did, spoke with insurance company to file a claim and what not) and they are claiming I didn't have insurance during a specific period and now billing me for visiting their office. However, when I was visiting their office, they did not make me aware of any such issue and I'm so frustrated that i now have to pay for something I shouldn't have to. Needless to say, I'm not going back to them or to any provider for that matter because I'm tired of this nonsense. I would rather suffer with my foot pain until I have better insurance and more money to afford such issues than not. The system is so broken, its so frustrating.

I have been Dr. Hawkins' patient since 2005. I have had degenerative issues regarding my feet and ankles but had relied on Dr. Hawkins to keep me on my feet and working by using the latest treatments. I finally needed surgery for both feet/ankles and chose Dr. Hawkins, who did a fantastic job. Now that I am retired, I continue to utilize Dr. Hawkins and his wonderful staff to keep me on my feet!

i was referred to dr. hawkins(in the latter months of 2006) because he was the only physician, at the time, my county insurance covered. he diagnosed me with a bone spur and hammertoes on one ft. this simple outpt. surgery has caused me such grief. upon my 1st post-op appt.(and with a witness that drove me to this appt.),while pointing to my foot that he did surgery on,he exclaimed "i didn't do that to your foot"! i tried to re-schedule a "repair surgery" with dr. hawkins (because i had no other choice/ins. reasons), but was told by the off. mgr. that he had been fired from the group! needless to say i sought out another dr., and am still dealing with dr. hawkins' work! (i also met with the dr. that replaced him within the group and he proceeded to tell me he didn't "like" dr. hawkins' surgery results that he had seen.).

Dr. Hawkins is the best! I was seen by another doctor in town at Memorial wound center who was so arrogant. he never did anything to improve my wound and just kept saying my wound was getting better. After I saw dr. Hawkins and he did a small procedure I healed up. I am so thankful I looked for another doctor.
