We saw the doctor for a possible lazy eye lid problem for our 11 month old son. The doctor was polite & cheerful but from her feedback I didn't get the impression that she was very knowledgeable (though it may be the result of not much being wrong with our son's eye). The problem arose when they sent an additional bill of $45 for refraction (vision) test which was not covered by insurance. We had no clue this procedure was being done. I talked to the office manager about it and her tone was brysque & lawyerly. She said it was mentioned on the form we signed at the time of check-in and implied that it is our fault that we didn't read it. I felt I was dealing with some telephone company call-center representative & it felt like a hidden charge. They could have just told about it upfront in plain language about this additional procedure & charge.
