I became pregnant for the very first time which is supposed to be a monumental and joyous occasion. Dr. Awad didn't allow me to ask any questions at any point, she shut me down at every turn. Keep in mind this was my first visit, I cried in my car after it was done and cried again every appointment after that.

For whatever reason, she makes you wait in her office for over an hour and when you finally are in with her she rushes through everything for the sake of getting paid.

Being that this was all brand new to me, I was excited to ask her a lot of questions regarding my pregnancy. That all stopped, when she put her hand up and said “I cannot speak until she is done talking and filling out the requisition forms.” Even after her speedball explanations, in the blink of an eye she was up and at the door ready to leave for her next appointment. Each of my appointments all lasted 15 minutes or less, the last visit I had with her I had started bleeding a couple days prior to going. When it came time to for me to show her pictures or try to talk with her about it she brushed me off like it was a huge bother or annoyance for her.

Reiterating again, I have never experienced any symptoms to do with pregnancy before or even miscarriage (which is what I was actually experiencing at the time unknowingly). At the end of the day all I wanted was some sense of comfort and empathy but instead I received neither.

She opted to speak to me like I was less than despite the newness of my situation and basically shut me down anytime I wanted to share my concerns. After she was done speaking I wanted to tell her how I felt wronged by how she was treating me throughout all these appointments during such a sensitive time in my life. Blindsided me once again, and cut me off by telling me she does not need to hear anything I am saying and got up to leave the room. Shockingly and literally she actually left the room and walked out. Both my husband and I were just stunned and baffled, left sitting thinking did that just really happen.

In turn, making me second guess not being able to express legitimate worries to your doctor without being catechized for it. Sadly, my view of Walk-In Clinics and how they are running are seen now as nothing but a money grab. They swipe your Health card, get paid and then they treat you terribly without cause or consequence. Long wait times, no compassion, no empathy, no sympathy, even her office receptionist was cold and rude unprovoked.

She blatantly ignores you and treats you as if they are the only option or end all to be all. Especially, if you have no existing family doctor/physician (which I currently do not have one), she called me to come in to go over my test results with Dr. Awad. Gave me her availability, I explained to her that I can’t come in on any those days I have work and she just responds with “okay” and hangs up the phone on me. No other words were exchanged, no alternative option was given. So I ended up calling back and said “okay I will come in on a day I am working (since they were firm on not being flexible with me).”

Which in the end didn’t matter anyway because whether you come in for your results or not she and everyone there have already gotten “paid. “Also, the facility is very dingy looking and unkept for a business where the foundation is to be sterile. To pull back the proverbial curtain some more, inside the patient rooms the cupboards surfaces are stripping and peeling off. There are no disposable items such as tongue depressors or otoscope ear inspection scope. No disposable gloves. No paper towels even. No table liners. No hand sanitizers or PPE. Poorly stocked across the board from an intake patient standpoint the optics couldn’t look or be any worse.  All that was visible was a scale and blood pressure monitor which was checked after she confirmed my pregnancy through blood work and pee analysis.  But not on any visit before those tests were done. The amount of care is nonexistent; she did not believe anything I had to say only until after taking those requisition tests.

Lastly, according to their hours of operations they start taking patients at a certain time (09:00). However, she arrives at whatever time she feels like it even if it is half hour after opening (09:30). Whether you are sitting and waiting for 15 minutes (which makes a difference in your day) or half hour they do not seem to care they run on their own schedule clearly.

This is not a rant, but more a cautionary tale to anyone going to visit Dr. Lucy Awad. If you want a doctor who sincerely cares about your wellbeing and health she is definitely not the doctor, you want to be seeing. Selfishly, her only concern seems to be about how many health cards her office can swipe and input per day. Subconsciously or not detaching herself from the oath of Hippocrates she took being in this profession and line of work.

Do your research, beware!

Dr. Lucy Awad is a great doctor. Very helpful and compassionate, shows concern about your health. Friendly and educated. She also takes care of my elderly mother and she always goes the extra mile to accommodate her special needs. I have been going to her office for many years and she has never let me down.

Dr. Awad is extremely rude and uncaring. Performed a Pap smear and slapped my leg when I winced. I went to her another time because I had finished my iron pill prescription and told her I was feeling terrible . She told me I can wait for the prescription since I’ve waited a month anyways, she didn’t believe what I was telling her. I had a blood test and she called me in a panic later that night because my results came back that my iron was so low that I was close to my organs shutting down.
I now have a new family doctor and I would never recommend anyone to see this woman. She is not empathetic not caring and is just money hungry for billing and does not even want to come close to you or touch you to examine you.

She is a narcissist. She has the worst personality and it is females like her that gives us Women a bad reputation and why people prefer male doctors. You cannot even explain your symptoms to her because she asks is you are the doctor and telling her what you have. She gave my daughter a needle that left a permanent scar on her hand. Worse doctor ever.
