Was referred to this doctor from my primary. Extremely rushed. Absolutely nobody in the waiting room they rushed me back there before I even had a quarter of the first page filled out on my questionnaire. But that doesn't matter because this doctor had his opinion before I walked into the room. Doctor would ask you a question but did not want a detailed explanation and would cut you off just wanting a simple answer. I kid you not my brother and I were filling out paperwork while trying to answer questions from this doctor and one of his nurses all at the same time. I was interrupted so much I never got to tell this doctor that my left leg will lock up completely sometimes while doing mundane chores around the house. He plain and simply does not want to hear it. Then of course he set me up for the run of the mill procedure. First was therapy second possibility would be epidural injections and third would be surgery. Oh yes and a follow-up appointment. Very arrogant shop around

In my 62 years, the worst doctor I have ever had. Rude, arrogant and rushed. MRI showed I have multiple herniated discs and disc compressions. I have had back pain for 25 years. Was looking at my MRI report as he was talking about it and he flipped out on me. Told me he did not like patients reading their own x-rays. I told him they were MRI reports and he just got madder. Said it was not my back that was the problem, but my hip joints. Asked why I have always had severe pain and lack of movement in my lower back, he just kept saying he does not think it was my back and he has years of experience. Added, a lot of people have disc problems like me, it is common....blah, blah ,blah. Referred me to PT and a orthopedic doctor. $2,234 later still in pain and hard to move. No injections or pain meds. Rushed and non caring combined with a horrible office staff that act miserable.. AdventWealth doctor.

Dr Murphy saw me after several other Drs, neurologist, urologist, etc, said I need a neurosurgeon. After being turned away by other neurosurgeons and I got an appointment I was excited. My happiness was short lived. He sent me to physical therapy even though I’d been 3 times since the 2010 car accident and each time the pain and weakness got worse. I decided to allow him his step by step evaluation even though I’d been through it all before. Sure enough the therapist reported to Dr Murphy that not only was it not helping the pain but it was making me weaker and therefore I was not to come back to therapy. Dr Murphy said sometimes that happens so we will go to surgery. He had been discussing ONLY a certain symptom and was now taking about fusion of the right pelvic. I asked if this problem explained all of my symptoms. He said no and did not know what was causing them. He seems unwilling or unable to think outside the box. We don’t all fit into the slot. He and I had discussed the fact I have Tarlov cysts in my spine and the fact that I have all the symptoms listed for symptomatic Tarlov cysts. He looked me in the eye and said Tarlov cysts NEVER cause problems. That’s not what John-Hopkins, Tarlov disease Foundation, and several top neurosurgeons in the world say. They’ve proved that sometimes the cyst can cause problems. Unfortunately they are in Texas and other states. First step first. I needed a neurosurgeon to tell me how many, what size and location of the cysts. The technician would only say several cysts at multiple levels and if I want more information I would have to have a Dr tell me. The rest of my Drs don’t have the capability or knowledge to read my MRI scans. So imagine my disappointment when Dr Murphy would not research, discuss or even tell me how many, where, or size! This viewpoint is lacking in new knowledge and very ridged. I feel that when a patient goes to a Dr he or she should do what’s needed to help. Even if it means research or dealing with unusual or rare problems. Now I find that my next appointment was canceled due to the fact that the Dr I was referred to for a shot of lidocaine in a nerve of my pelvic, low spine area refused to do it. I have adverse reactions to Novocain, lidocaine and eye drops for dilation. So the Dr I was referred to refused. Because of not getting the shot done his staff has canceled my appointment and when I called was told Dr Murphy can’t help me. So no need of other appointments. I guess what I’ve been told is true. That when you’re poor and on disability you don’t get the latest updated and researched treatment available.

Wonderful and very knowledgeable doctor. Diagnosed a problem in my lumbar spine that other surgeons had missed for years. He spent much time with me reviewing and explaining all my options in an effort to avoid any unnecessary surgery. I would go back to him for any neurological problem.

Offered me 2 choices for my sacroiliac pain . Physical therapy or fusion surgery. After doing more research found out there are a lot of other medical treatments availabel. Had an Mri before going to his office. He did not even bother reviewing the report or looking at the MRI images . What a waste of time and money. Spent 4 weeks of PT with very minor improvement. I I kept up with stretching excercises after PT was over .As soon as I returned my normal physical activity the pain returned could not get a follow up appointment for several weeks.. This certainly was not a durable response. Very unsatisfied with treatment plan and doctors choices of treatment. Will not go back. Go see someone else.

Great Experience. Very focused on medical problem, yet always answered all questions that were asked in a way patient could understand. Dr. Murphy is a very kind and compassionate person . Together, these factors made for a trusting and comfortable patient/doctor relationship.
