I had a minor meniscus tear in my knee and when I saw Dr. Yao. He gave me no information about my meniscus which gave me the occasional pain 3 to 4 times a year but would ok in a week. He said he could fix the occasional pain even though I had no pain in between. He was constantly interrupting me asking "do you want surgery". I asked "so this surgery will eliminate the occasional pain" He replied, "Yes". Two years later I now have DAILY pain/discomfort which only gets worse. Research shows that surgery is not recommended on a meniscus tear that does not give you daily pain. My GP was alarmed that he would recommend surgery on a minor tear. I have an appointment in six and a half months just to talk to Dr. Yao about my knee.
