Where to start. Firstly, he kept yawning all through my consult and at one point I'm pretty sure he started to doze off.
I have a diagnose of BPD and have had this diagnosis for well over 10 years. Yet he still questioned whether I actually have BPD, despite being diagnosed by 2 other psychiatrists. The wonderful kicker was I have been cured of my depression, because according to this doctor I have a job, therefore I couldn't possibly have depression. Didn't even get to discuss the reason I had requested the appointment as he was too hung up on my ability to function with depression.
He asked no questions regarding my medical history and while reviewing my med list, he didn't even know what Toradol was. I had to explain it is an anti-inflammatory.
This doctor is so out of touch.

Hi, this is a former patient of dr Tempier, I am writting this to finally talk about the things he told me about my identity as a transgender person. First of all, he did not understand what the term meant and i had to explain to him what was gender, sex and sexual orientation and tell him that these were all different and not related although he kept asking me if i was a lesbian because i was transmasc.
I was suprise to know that he wasn’t informed and up to date with the lgbtq+ community in these days and age. When i mentionned to him i was trans he did not believe me and kept telling me i was not indeed trans and that it might be a phase. He never respected my pronouns even after i would correct him either. When i told him about a surgery i was planning to have, he insisted that it was a bad idea but didn’t tell me why. He also had my mom has his patient and told her « your kid is not transgender » (this is all translated from french to english) my last visit with him was in person. I didn’t mention to him my surgery because i already knew what he though about it, i did remind him when he misgendered me what was my pronouns and that i was nonbinary. He still wasn’t sure what that meant. He then mentioned another of his patient who was transgender. He kept misgendering that patient, i had to correct him multiples times.

Dr Tempier has saved my life. He is a good listener and gives very good advices.He is very knowledgeable. He knows his medication. I am able to function now. Thank you for everything you are doing for me.

As an adult female looking for help determining if I was experiencing a sensory processing disorder or ASD, issues very few professionals having a lot of experiences with (especially with females), I was pleasantly surprised at how Dr Tempier and his medical student handled my appointment. They put me at easy and didn't dismiss anything that I brought up (something that happens frequently when you explain sensory and ASD issues). They asked questions to gain more info and rule out other possible diagnoses. They both seemed very caring in regards to limitations I experience dealing with daily life. Dr Tempier also seemed willing to learn from his medical student who was slightly more informed about current research.

Très connaissant en la matière! Il très haut placé dans le système de la santé mentale à Ottawa et à l'Université d'Ottawa. J'ai pus sortir de mes difficultés. Mais il oubli souvent la majorité des choses que nous avons discuté dans les RDV précédent.

I could only see him for a single session, but his advice was more helpful than any other mental health specialist I saw.

If you want a cold Psychiatrist who has no compassion and believes people with ADHD do not need medication and probably should not be in regular schools if they can't focus then you will find him great. His lack of help and complete lack of care for a person with multiple mental health issues was disgusting.
