Having a rt hand trigger finger and carpal tunnel surgery went so much better than I expected! I have a 90 mile drive to office and hospital. Brianna was extremely accommodating. Ambulatory surgical facility was professional from pre op through discharge. Dr Lane was kind, compassionate and professional. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Please read this honest account about my unfortunate experience with this doctor.
He failed to order the proper tests to arrive at a correct diagnosis. As a result he performed 2 unnecessary surgeries on me and the complications that ensued have ruined my life. Heard, after the fact, that I am not the first that this has happened to.
Gives NSLIJ a bad reputation. Should be let go before he injures more patients.
Avoid at all costs.

A wonderful surgeon and a kind, considerate man. I just had surgery on my right hand thumb with perfect results...no pain at all and a complete correction of my trigger thumb.

I had surgery for a mucous cyst on my middle finger in October 2016. Dr. Lewis did a fantastic job. Absolutely no pain and the incision healed with no scar. Dr Lewis was always professional and polite. I rate him a perfect 10

Dr. Lane is excellent. Had carpal tunnel surgery and could not have been more pleased. Scar is hardly visible after only three weeks.

Biography

My clinical practice is confined to Surgery of the Hand. I joined the medical staff of NSUH in 1980, when I first entered practice, and have combined clinical hand surgery with teaching and research ever since. In 1995 I joined the medical staff at LIJMC. In 2011 I joined the fulltime Northwell Health Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as Orthopaedic Residency Program Director and Chief of Hand Surgery. Taking care of patients is my primary interest and motivation to go to work every day. My goal is to treat every patient with the most care, compassion, and skill that I can manifest. Currently, I treat patients with a broad range of hand problems from arthritis and deformity to carpal tunnel syndrome, other nerve disorders, benign tumors, and Dupuytren s Disease. I was recognized with an Arnold P. Gold Foundation Gold DOC award for skill, sensitivity, caring, and compassion in 2015. I have been listed yearly in Castle Connelly s Best Doctors since 1998. I have been active in national and regional professional organizations, having served on more than 20 committees of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and other professional organizations. I have been an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Hand Surgery since 1991. I was an officer of the NY Society for Surgery of the Hand between 1996 and 2000 and was President in my final year. For Northwell Health, I am Chief of Hand Surgery at NSUH and LIJMC, and serve as the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program Director. I am deeply involved at Zucker SOM at Hofstra/Northwell, serving in many roles: President of the SOM Faculty Council (2019 to 2021), participate on the Dean s Advisory Group, am a Departmental Advisor for medical students interested in Orthopedics, teach in the Structure course, and oversee the clinical experience for medical students in their third and fourth years. In addition to my leadership role in Faculty and Resident research projects in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, I am personally involved in clinical and basic science research. I have had considerable outside academic activity, with more than 40 peer review publications, over 100 podium and poster presentations, and dozens of faculty presentations at national courses and meetings.
