I am a pretty low maintenance patient. I usually go to the doctor twice a year. Once for a physical and once if I get really sick. This year I have unfortunately been sick a lot and now have a completely different perspective on Dr. Pao now that I have had the misfortune of dealing with her more. I too would give her negative stars if it was possible. While I find her office staff pleasant enough, she landed me in the hospital once from over medicating me. She prescribed me 3 different antibiotics in 3 weeks. She kept telling me I was "allergic" to each one when they were making me physically ill. Apparently no human being should be on antibiotics for that long and so I became ill from being over medicated by her. I am NOT allergic to any antibiotics. I let this incident slide as A) everyone makes mistakes, and B) For the first time in my life had switched to HMO insurance because we seldom go to the doctor and I didn't want to hassle with changing my PCP. Although it should have set off alarms when she got very defensive when I brought it up to her. Apparently switching to an HMO tempted the hands of fate and I have had multiple ailments this year. She has handled each one worse than the previous one. Long story short, she refused to give me a referral to a urologist for my kidney stone because she said she "can handle it" and this is the 3rd referral she has refused to give me. When asked for a referral she said, " I will think about it." I am typing this from my hospital bed and let me be clear, she did not handle it!!!! She let her ego get in the way of her patient's well being, and that is unforgivable. She needs to get over herself and take care of her patients. If you want a doctor that rolls her eyes at you, than she's your gal otherwise, STAY AWAY from her or you might end up patronized and ignored too. For the record this is my 12th kidney stone in my life and she has had zero. I'm pretty sure I know when I need to see a specialist.

in my opinion Dr. Pao is a failure. she told me I was slightly anemic. after getting a flu shot from her, I went in complaining of tiredness, no energy. I also told her I had black stool and my blood pressure 88/55 low. She dismissed any idea other than flu, gave me a prescription for Tamiflu, I NEVER HAD FLU!! 4 FOUR days later I could barely move, felt much worse - drove myself to her office, had to get a wheelchair because I could not breathe. Went to her office, she sent me to the lab for a chest x-ray and blood work and my hemoglobin count was 8. Normal for an adult woman is 12.1 to 15. At 6:00 pm same day she calls with results and tells me i need to go to the hospital either that night or the next morning to get a blood transfusion. I found a ride, went that night, by 6:30 pm it was 7. Emerg dept says very serious, was there 4 days, given 3 pints of blood - could have died. Dr. Pao failed to look at the big picture. Do NOT trust her. More but out of room
