Went to an appointment with Steve after going through chemotherapy and having severe memory laps that caused me to have to go on disability for work. He told me to make and follow lists which I did on my cell phone. But I explained when I have memory lapses that words on the list don't mean anything. He told me I was manipulative to tell my wife I was down, and criticized her for making me dinner because I was lapsing. Telling her I needed to do it myself. We tried to explain I could not, because I was lapsing, and i was hungry which aggravates the lapses. He didn't want to hear it. And said I needed to make lists. Which were worthless because I couldn't follow them. He asked my wife to leave the room and berated me. He told me not to buy a bike because of our finances but he doesn't know our financial position I own 4 investment properties that cash flow quite well. He was narrow minded and abrasive. He would not listen. Both my wife and I told him I used workflows and lists at work when I tried to go back. He forgot this. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with Steve's approach and judgment. My wife was distraught by his treatment of me and felt awful for recommending him. The following day I had memory lapses because of the stress. I tried to sleep to settle down, and thought someone was going to hurt my 10 month old daughter. The Sunday following the appointment. My anxiety was off the charts. Anxiety and confusion are side effects of cisplatin which is the chemo I was on. There were days I couldn't tie my shoes or feed our dogs. Much less make a meal. Sunday was similar to this because of Steve's counseling session. If my wife didn't make lunch for me I wouldn't have eaten. For Steve to berate her for that is unacceptable. It shows a lack of understanding for our position. As when I am hungry it amplifies my lapses. Wouldn't recommend this therapist to anyone.
