I am 70 years old and had a bypass on my left leg and Dr Legault called me to inform me that the doctor who performed my original surgery was no longer a part of the vascular surgery team at Joliette Regional Hospital. He said that he wanted to meet with me to see how my previous surgery was healing and to look at my right leg and foot. He had an excellent bedside manner, spoke to me in English, and instilled confidence in his expertise. The surgery was postponed from October 18, 2022 to October 20,2022. Then he sent me to the Montreal Cardiological Institute to check my heart to be sure that I could recover from bypass surgery. The answer was not promising but was given the green light for the surgery on November 3rd. I have had the surgery. I am in the hospital on the road to recovery, and his team, which includes Dr Aubree are competent and take the time to explain what is happening. The nursing staff, the orderlies, the cleaning staff, and other support are human beings who share an interest in the welfare of their patients, even the elderly. I thank God that I am not in an unmotivated hospital where the bottom line is finishing their shift, getting out, and being paid. Here I find a loving relationship with real, loving people. Even the cafeteria contributes, seeing as I am eating a vegan, diabetic, low sugar, cardiac diet. They call me to check if everything is all right on the menu they have provided.
