AVOID AVOID. This money hungry beast preys on the vulnerable. He is unhelpful and knowledge poor. Plus patients don't seem to improve under his care.

DONOT go to this doctor. He is only interested in money. His diagnosis is shockingly poor at best. If you unhappy you aren't the only one. Make a complaint because he is putting mentally unhealthy patients life at risk. He does not care about you. His methods are from a bad text book and he has virtually no psychiatric training. Also, one the reviewers mentioned medical community being incestuous, yes this is true but it also applies the other way, he will defer to a friend who is medically trained and do what they say without using his own supposed "knowledge as a psychiatrist"

Never once told me I could get prescribed through a GP after seeing him for a while and just let me keep paying him hundreds more than I needed to for appointments. Surprised me one day telling me my medication had doubled in price but still wanted me to pay for the appointment, knowing it was a total waste of my time and money as he knew I couldn't afford my medication at that price. Years later when my meds went on PBS I set an appointment with him and he cancelled two days before it was due after waiting 6 weeks because he was spiteful I didn't pay him for the previous appointment years prior. Then after I set an appointment with another GP he went OUT OF HIS WAY to smear me to them and he had that appointment cancelled on me after I waited 4 weeks. This guy is a real POS.

I have been seeing him for the last two years and he has never once suggested anything to help. I have just been in hospital supposedly under his care but only saw him 3 times in 3.5 weeks. His intern knew more about me and I met him 3 times. He told me to do ECT as an inpatient so he can check on my progress daily and then never checked in. I can honestly say I am more depressed now than when I first started seeing him.

I was referred to Dr Samuels by my GP for a stay at the Hollywood Clinic. I rarely saw Dr Samuels, maybe three times during my three week stay at the clinic. He had a Psychiatrist training with him at the time, so he mostly sent his training doctor to check in on me. I had my consultations with the trainee (who would take notes and past them on to Samuels) and only saw Dr Samuels briefly at the end of the visit. I did not feel cared for or listened to by Dr Samuels. I requested a referral to another psychiatrist as soon as I left the clinic.

Dr Samuels is a great, professional, caring and collaborative in his approach. I have seen several other psychiatrist related to adult ADHD and he has really helped, in fact I would say that his approach has materially improved my life, both work and personal. I can honestly say he is a fantastic specialist and asset to the medical community.

I’ve seen this amazing doc since I was very young, not only has he saved my life many many times he has become someone so valued to me personally. His support is one in a million and is wise as they come. He listens on a level that is so rare and special. If it weren’t for this man I wouldn’t have made it to 27! There are not enough stars to give this genius! Highly recommend to anyone no matter how extreme your case is- he will get you!

Dr. Mathew Samuels and his staff saved my life. Mathew was very carful with prescribing my medication. He works in conjunction with my GP, my other psychiatrist and psychologist. He was instrumental in identifying another medical condition that was not in his speciality and immediately referred me to a treating specialist for that condition. My views and feeling have always been taken into consideration by Mathew when we have been discussing treatment plans and such like. Mathew is open, friendly and taken an interest in what my wife says to him. When I was at rock bottom, he would call me up every so often or drop an email between visits just to see how I was going. I have only met two Psych that do that. Mathew and Raj S. He is great for me.

This guy is so arrogant, lacks what i would consider basic knowledge and skills. I looked further - he's a Psychiatrist for the elderly, but sees young patients to take the money. He also charged way more than how much he saw me. I should report him to medicare, but didnt want the hassle.
