Dr. Angela Chelvanathan went above and beyond caring for me during the most distressing time of my life. Her kindness and professional skills are 2nd to none. I will always be forever grateful for her.

I waited 2 weeks for them to contact me after an emergency hospital referral. I made 27 phone calls to the hospital to find out who I was referred to. Dr. Anjala Chelvanathan finally called me and said she'd called me several times with no answer. That is not true, my phone comes with me even when showering. Got a phone appointment and Anjala did diagnose me and answered some of my questions but seemed rushed and disinterested. "I will write you a referral for blood work for thyroid and electrolyte, if the test is negative, you can take a beta blocker and see how that works. My secretary will will send you the referral and set a follow up in 3 months. All this took 34 days from hospital to Dr Anjala. The Dr.'s secretary never called, I followed up after a week and she had no orders for blood work from Dr. Anjala and said she would check and get back. I never heard from anyone again. I went to another Cardiologist in Toronto and got an appointment immediately and felt I was taken care of by someone who cared. During this time I was anxious and worried and not one cared.

I have been a patient for the last 3 years of Dr. Chelvanathan. Due to the sensitivity and criticality of my illness, I expect a certain level of compassion and intimacy with my doctor so I can freely discuss my issues and even ask the ridiculous questions if needed without feeling awkward. I've often felt an arrogance from her that I haven't experienced with any other doctor. She has repeatedly shut down my questions and states that I've already answered your question in my last visit. I feel intimidated by her demeanor. She lacks the humanity that a doctor reserves for the patient. At one point, i was left in tears and trust me, it takes a lot for a grown man to feel that way. Her appointments are rushed and instead of advising or providing guidance when my numbers are not improving, she gives negative connotations and is demeaning. Even my wife who usually accompanies me in my visits, feels the same way. If it was not for the hospital's referral, i would've never have chosen her to be my cardiologist. Ultimately, I have not received any constructive feedback from her regarding my heart condition. I have had the great fortune over the years to work with the greatest physicians who go out of their way at times to make me feel at ease. With Dr. Chelvanathan, that feeling has never come to fruition. I will not recommend her and currently in search of another cardiologist.

Dr Chelvanathan is top notch. I attended every appointment with my father throughout this past year. She is super smart, inquisitive and methodically adjusts medications until it’s perfect. She is extremely attentive and listens carefully. I also noted on many occasions she treats her staff so kindly. We always have a good time when we’re in her office - she is really funny, and has a great sense of humour and has a way of making my Dad smile. All of these qualities in one little dynamite bundle. I feel that my Dad is in the best hands possible. Also she is young and eager to get it right - not jaded like so many specialists and I feel she really knows her stuff and makes full use of technology.
