I don't know how to thank Dr. Curtis for the amazing work he did on my lumbar spine. I was in a great deal of pain but hesitant to have surgery. Dr. Curtis was so very compassionate and explained everything in detail. I am so grateful. I am pain free, walking long distances every day and back to my love of gardening. I had a very quick recovery which was a real bonus. The pre and post op care was amazing. I could not have wished for a better outcome. Thank you to Dr. Curtis and his team.

Five weeks ago I had my neck rebuilt by Dr Curtis. He went above and beyond as there was a need, at the time, to do more than anticipated from scans. I am a country patient having had surgery done on my back by Dr Curtis previously. Along way from home I wouldn't want to be in anyone else's hands. Thank you to Dr Curtis and everyone involved!!😀

Unfortunately I couldn’t recommend this practice from my experience with Dr Curtis….i would strongly suggest it wise to get a second opinion before being rushed into any surgery by this Dr, unless you are prepared for long term pain and very little support post op ……Also very expensive….. in hospital u see the registrar more than Dr Curtis doesn’t seem to make matter as to if you are a private patient or not. Disappointed!

Just had a complex three level fusion of lumber spine.
I would like to thank Dr Curtis and his wife for the compassion before and after the surgery. He is a talented surgeon and both professional and just a nice person.
The 7 hour operation was a complete success.
I would not have anyone else operate on my spine.

I can not thank him enough.

Procedure: C6/7 anterior discectomy and Left C7 radiculopathy (or in layman's terms damaged spinal disc resulting in spinal cord pressure)

I first noticed my symptoms about 6+ years ago which included back pain, shoulder pain, tingling down my arm and numbness in my fingers on my left hand.   Initially non-surgical treatment such as chiropractor visits and working on my core strength provided some limited relief but ultimately didn't diagnose the exact problem.  Gradually my condition worsen and the pain became harder and harder to live.  Finally my local GP referred me to Dr Curtis and although hesitate to go down the surgical path, as often happens with these problems they don't get better, only worst and surgery becomes the only viable option.
When I finally had my surgery, I was in that much pain that everyday life was becoming impossible.   An MRI scan revealed that in 6 months since my previous scan, my condition had worsen to just 5% narrowing (spinal stenosis).  Dr Curtis was professional and comprehensive in all his explanations of my medical reports/scans and what they revealed about my condition and more importantly what the best treatment plan would be.   He was confident that with the proposed treatment plan, my quality of life would be returned and I would be pain free - a confident based on numerous past client experiences.   Dr Curtis was understanding and appreciative of my hesitancy with surgery, but Dr Curtis was confident that surgery was the only viable option available for myself with my condition.   Dr Curtis was of course right, very right as it turns out when delays occurred (due to covid) and my condition worsen in a very short period of time.

Dr Curtis and his staff were fantastic and supportive and scheduled my surgery immediately, then kindly re-scheduled it earlier after the pain became literally unbearable.   Immediately after surgery I felt 100% better and pain free.   I couldn't believe the amount of movement I had gained back, the absence of pain and tingling gone.   Within 1 week my fingers on my left hand which I had lived with being numb for almost 2 years, finally had feeling back in them.   After years living with this condition and the symptoms, I can honestly say it was the best decision ever to have the procedure and also to select Dr Curtis as my surgeon.   All surgery comes with it's risks and post surgery recovery, but with Dr Curtis' skill and expertise I felt extremely confident that I was putting my health (and neck/spinal care) in the best of hands. Dr Curtis' bedside manner is kind and understanding, his post surgery recovery support fantastic.   What was initially a daunting experience has turned out to be almost easy and seamless.    Dr Curtis' staff were professional and experienced with all the necessary hospital and other specialist bookings and paperwork, allowing me to just concentrate on getting myself healthy again.  Post surgery, during my hospital stay, Dr Curtis was courteous and available and I never once got that 'rushed' feeling.  He was very present, attentive and assessing of my post surgery health and well being.
This review is written 6 weeks after my surgery and my first follow up appointment.   Again, I can not believe the quality of life the procedure has given back to me.   Although to be honest, with 5% narrowing my options were getting very limited, I still can not believe the difference.   Dr Curtis schedules 6 mthly, yearly follow up appointments to monitor everything, again leaving you re-assured that your health is in the best of hands and that Dr Curtis truely wants the very best outcome for all his patients.

I am so glad Dr Curtis was my surgeon and appreciative of all his pre and post surgery care.  For anyone else who may (unfortunately) need a Neurosurgeon, from my experience,  I wouldn't hesitate to 100% recommend Dr Curtis - you will be in very safe, professional, understanding hands.

I’ve had “back pain” for years, but over the last 12 months it had increased, and I started to get some sciatic pain in my right leg. The deterioration was accelerating and the nerve pain in my leg became debilitating. I could not sit down without severe pain.

An MRI showed a cyst that was impinging on the nerve in my spine at L5. After consulting with my GP, I received a referral to Dr Curtis.

With COVID restrictions, my initial consultation was by Zoom. Even on this platform, Dr Curtis was empathetic and interested in listening to me. He showed me MRI images and explained the issue in a clear and understandable way. The surgical options were clearly described to me, along with potential risks. At the end of the consultation, I felt extremely well informed.

While the idea of spinal surgery is somewhat daunting, I felt extremely comfortable in the hands of Dr Curtis so decided to have the spinal decompression and removal of the cyst.

Immediately following surgery, the relief was profound, the nerve pain was gone, I could sit. I was well looked after in hospital; I went home feeling positive and knowing what the path ahead looked like.

The whole process from initial consultation through to follow-up was clear, timely and empathetic. My thanks also go to the practice manager Sarah for all her help.

Should any of my family or friends need surgery in this field, would send them to Dr Curtis.

I was totally unaware of the heredity nature of aneurysms , so after I had a short episode of amnesia and a followup CT scan , an aneurysm was found. My father had a ruptured aneurysm back in the early 1970s , he was lucky enough to survive surgery then. My GP referred me to Dr Jonathan Curtis , he explained everything in full detail, even the likely odds of rupture given my family history. No pressure to act , he gave me time to think what I wanted to do . I decided fairly quickly after reading so many favourable reviews about Dr Curtis. I had an angiogram at NSPH so Dr Curtis could work on a strategy to repair the aneurysms . The outcome was surgery, a craniotomy with four clips ...........I was extremely anxious but knew that surgery was the best option for survival . So in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic my booked surgery happened. The staff at North Shore Private Hospital were wonderful. Dr Curtis and his operating team were awesome . Heather ( the practice secretary) was extremely helpful with paperwork etc. Dr Curtis did a great job at only removing a small amount of my hair for the surgical incision (my hair is important to me !) . I also had a list of questions for my 6 week followup appointment and he very patiently answered them all. He was very pleased with my recovery and I feel so lucky to have been referred to him . I highly recommend Dr Curtis .

Dr Jonathan Curtis is a wonderful man and a very gifted surgeon. I have recently had surgery on C6/7 and C7/TI ACD and Foraminotomies and C6 Corpectomy. From the beginning of my consultation through to surgery and post operative consultation, i cannot speak more highly and appreciative of the care i received. The detailed personnel interest that he took prior to my surgery, gave me tremendous assurance that i was engaging the best surgeon that was going to give me a positive outcome.I never felt i was just another person but a patient that he had committed himself to help.He always had time to talk and
discuss any question i had and gave me quality time to explain the procedure.I have had other surgical procedures during my life but never have i had such a caring, professional surgeon as Dr Curtis. His hand picked team to assist with his work also displayed the same attributes that i have not found elsewhere in the medical field. His follow up after the surgery in ICU and the ward was fantastic where he made visits out of hours in care for his patient. Following my surgery, the fees for service were readily accepted considering the value i had received from gifted hands I highly recommend Dr Jonathan Curtis who has a special place in his profession.
With Many Thanks

I highly recommend Dr Jonathan Curtis as an honest, skillful surgeon who has empathy for his patients suffering.

I have had many surgeries under his hands with everyone being successful.
I have had an ACDF, 2 laminectomy and discectomies, a Transphenoidal removal of a Macroadenoma from the Pituitary gland and a Lumbar fusion.
His care for me through these operations was unsurpassed and his ongoing care due to my spinal degeneration is excellent.
His results are no doubt due his reliance on and faith in God.
I can only thank him so much for all he has done for me.
I will never forget the day he came down to see me in the ICU after a Pituitary crisis. He had no reason to come but came just to say hello and chat. The man is a special person gifted not only in intricate neurosurgery but also in patient care.
I thank you Jonathan and your caring wife Sarah for all that you have done for me and would wholeheartedly recommend you to anyone needing neurosurgery.
I could go on and tell more stories though they would all tell the same, of an man who cares for his fellow man and has been gifted to help them.

Thank you so much Jonathan and Sarah.

Many thanks
Jim and Louise Pridham
