I had been seeing Dr. Gaas over a period of 6 years until I moved away from Edmonton. I found him to be very helpful and accommodating to my needs for prescription medications from anti depressants, anti inflammatory for my arthritis and pain meds. He listened and prescribed & referred me to specialists. He was not always punctual but what doctor ever is? He could probably improve on his spending time with the patient as he does seem to be rushed. But all in all I was pleased with him as my family doctor and have recommended him to others. Believe me, I have had worse doctors than Gaas & I think the negative comments below are from self-entitled, uptight, selfish & impatient people expecting miracles from their own private, personal physician which he is not.
I have no complaints about him as being my family doctor.

Starting off with the front desk lady (Ashley) is rude & indifferent. Very impersonal. Needs to look into another occupation. I have been seeing Gaas for a few years. At first I thought he was great. There was always the typical doctor office complaints but I took these in stride. Until it just became noticeably worse. From being put on hold for 10 to 15 minutes on the phone, waiting in lounge for your scheduled appointment & then waiting again for another 15 or more minutes once taken to the examination room. Last visit I was there an hour & a half for a prescription refill & request for a letter. He pops in & out leaving you waiting more. Its like he can't multitask on one patient. You have to hold him back & make sure he is complete with you. I've had to ask for a letter for my employer to clear me of any impairments caused by a medication he's prescribed me. I've been waiting 6 days now since my last pee in the cup appointment & still nothing. I'm getting fed up with the waiting & delays. I hate to say it, (cuz I like the guy), but it's time I find another doctor.

Dr. Gaas has to be one of the worst doctors in Edmonton. Avoid if possible. Re drops your prescription without any advise?? I have been seeing him a few years, all was ok. I went in on my monthly appt. only for him to tell me I should start to look for a family doctor...huh?? I thought you were my doctor?? argh so frustrating. When I got my prescription he said that is was for 60 days (when Ive been receiving the same prescription for years?). I dunno whats happened but service is getting worst each visit. I will certainly be looking for a new doctor asap.

Doesn't care. Just in it for the money... deliberately inefficient so he can bill more visits than necessary. Doesn't warn you of serious medical problems till it's too late.

I came home here to Edmonton after living in Ontario for about 9 yrs so I needed a new doctor. Don't know how I came across him but did. Will not give refills so I have to spend money on cabs every 2weeks! Will give me one of a time giving me early refills for my antidepressent pulls That i desperately need after I have migraines when I vomit them up! I'm getting tired of being given the run around alot!
