I have had a very difficult time with depression for many years and started seeing Dr Agbodo approximately 3 years ago by telephone due to Covid. Initially he was very helpful and we tried different meds. The last med caused severe diarrhea The last time I spoke to him was in April 2023 at which time he advised me that he would think of the next steps for me and get back to me in 2 to 3 weeks. I called a couple of times and left messages. I finally received a call about a month ago that I was to see the doctor on April 8, 2024, That is a whole year since I last had an appointment. This past year has been extremely difficult for me. I realize how busy doctors are in the current environment but I feel that having to wait a year is extreme.

Dr. Agbodo is a fantastic Dr. Gave me back my life. After suffering most of my life with depression he gave me the right drugs to pull me through. It took him 5 minutes to diagnose me. He keeps in touch with me on a regular basis. He is amazing and knows his business. I love to get his phone calls. It makes my day. Thank you again Dr Agbodo. I could not have made it without you.

Iv been back and forth with Mental health for 30 years. We I got in to See Dr Agbodo he diggs deep to get to the root of my depression. I was so relieved. I faced everything from my childhood up. It's been 3 years now and I'm still seeing him. He don't just give you medicine and advice and let you go. Dr continues to follow up every couple month's or more if needed. As well he gets you with Mental health so you see the same person. So you have extra support. He is my saving grace I was so lost helpless. Dr Agbodo gave me my life back. I still struggle but he is always there to help. He is so kinda and he truly is there to help.

Today was my first in person appointment Dr.Agbodo. We really got in depth with my mental health struggles and decided on a new approach. I’ve been seeing Psychiatrists on and off for the past 20 years. I can honestly say he is the best. Saint John is very lucky to have him.
Thank You so much Dr.Agbodo

In my opinion, Dr. Agbodo has a special skill of taking the time to listen to understand his patients, rather than listening to simply respond. He is an exceptional psychiatrist, and the only one I have had who has perfected this skill. From the first appointment, I could tell that this was going to be a different experience. I felt heard, understood, and validated by him because of his approach to patient care. He does not view his patients like a checklist of symptoms to go threw and examine.

At the start of each of my appointments, he prioritizes checking in on me by re-visiting any events that may have occurred in between appointments. This is not a surface level "How is your day?", he truly takes the time to touch base with me to gain a better understanding about where my mental health is at (this isn't to say that he doesn't ask how my day is going or how work is going, he absolutely does ask these things to have a genuine conversation). I find this is really helpful when the conversation switches to my medication and how I have been doing on them. Dr. Agbodo guides the conversation in terms of asking how a certain medication is going by bringing it up by name, but then allows me to explain to him where I am at with it, if I find it is helpful, etc. He does not interject and always allows me to finish before he touches base and explores what I said further. I feel like I am allowed to speak freely, without any judgement on his part. He values my input regarding my medication, and has worked really hard with me since my first visit to find the right balance to keep me going. He always offers up different treatment options and will ask me how I feel about them.

It is a collaborative process with Dr. Agbodo, not one of finality. He understands that life can be in flux from one appointment to another, but above all else he values the truth. It has been okay for me to say that I wasn't okay during previous appointments, just like it was okay for me to say that I was doing better. It has been okay for me to say I didn't feel like a certain medication was helping, just like it was okay for me to say that it felt like it was working too much and needed to be lowered. I don't feel judged when I vent about what is feeling heavy in my life. He also celebrates the improvements with me. I am grateful that I was able to become one of his patients.

His staff went above and beyond recently for me when I was going through a rough patch. Besides that, they are always pleasant to interact with and on one occasion they took the time to let me know that my appointment would be running a little bit later than scheduled. I'm glad that Dr. Agbodo gave whoever it was the extra time that they needed to talk through whatever they were experiencing because I know he would do the same for me.

To whoever is reading my review, I hope that this is a small nudge towards taking the first step of contacting Dr. Agbodo. I needed the nudge, too.

Dr. Agbodo is a fantastic doctor. I don't think I could say enough good things about him. I first met him when I was hospitalized for a manic episode. It really left an impression on me that I never felt judged or condescended by him. He is understanding, compassionate, he seems to genuinely care about his patients well-being, and he also has a great sense of humor. He put me on the right combination of medications so that I could become stable. I haven't had any more episodes in over 2 years. I highly recommend him as a doctor!
