As I reflect, the year 2020 has taught me the core essence of gratitude and thankfulness! I want to share my experiences and express my heartfelt thankfulness to my dentist Dr. Edward Shluper, and his friendly staff, who provided efficient and outstanding dental services to me over the past 17 years. I became Dr. Shluper’s patient in 2004 at his previous dental practice located in Bloomfield, NJ. At that time, I had a lot of dental work that needed to be done, which resulted in many emergencies. I would call Dr. Shluper’s office late evenings, nights/weekends, and he would return my calls in a timely fashion, and always make the ultimate sacrifice to accommodate my emergencies. That kind of care, compassion, and commitment speaks volume to who he is as a person, his passion and commitment to his patients. More importantly, he did a superb cost-effective dental treatment plan that consisted of (extractions, root canals, veneers, bridges), that transformed my appearance/life in a very profound way. Overall, what I admired most about Dr. Shluper is, his array of dental knowledge, expertise, professionalism, respectfulness, meticulous articulate workmanship, mannerism, honesty, integrity, sense of humor, and flexibility coupled with humility and empathy. As a dentist, he always demonstrates ethical/moral values and respects his patients. I can attest that he never overcharged, or overbooked his patients in my opinion. In the event that I had to wait for an additional 15-20 minutes, it’s because he had an emergency, in which the staff would inform me and he would personally apologize for the extended wait. Also, Dr. Shluper would always come out to the waiting area to greet and escort his patients to the treatment room. He is always very cheerful with a smile, and over the course of 17 years, I have never seen him upset or have a negative disposition. In addition, he takes the time to know his patients and their families, and often would ask me “still preaching, still working out at the gym 24/7”, and we would start laughing. Approximately 3 years ago, Dr. Shluper relocated his dental practice to Mountain Lakes, NJ. The office is outstanding and beautifully designed, very welcoming with the most sophisticated state-of-the art equipment. He has a great efficient and effective office manager who is very knowledgeable with insurances, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and follow-up promptly. During the COVID pandemic, Dr. Shluper followed CDC guidelines and took the necessary precautions to make his staff and patients felt safe, during their visit and treatment. I recently visited the office and was very excited to learn that he completed his dental certification for dental implants. The timing is great and I look forward to having some implants done. For those great reasons, I highly recommend Dr. Shluper and can assure you that he can transform your smile, enhance your confidence, treat you with respect and compassion that can develop into a long-lasting mutual friendship. Despite his fancy office with a flat screen t.v. in the waiting room, this is the worst dentist I've been to. I sat there for 10 minutes before they noticed I was in there. Ten minutes after that, they gave me paperwork to fill out. He immediately started rambling off the amount it would cost me just for an exam and x-rays. I understand it's a business and you're providing a service but I don't have insurance. If I'm about to give you money, I prefer you didn't have an attitude. I went into the exam room with my swollen face and he actually mocked and laughed at the fact that I have not-so-great teeth. Who laughs at his prospective patients? I'm utterly disgusted. I do not recommend going to him for his services.
