Professor Rodney Lane came highly recommended to us by Dr. Donald Kuah from Sydney Sports Medicine Centre based at the NSW Institute of Sport in Olympic Park. Our daughter Lauren, an elite rhythmic gymnast training 20+ hours per week , had suffered years of severe leg pain which despite numerous doctor and specialist appointments, x-rays and scans, had never been correctly diagnosed or effectively treated. Professor Rodney Lane successfully diagnosed Lauren with Popliteal Artery Compression syndrome during our first specialist consultation. We remember very clearly that Professor Lane had not yet even opened the referral documentation and scans conducted, when he questioned Lauren in some detail and asked her to undertake exercises to demonstrate to us how the blood flow to her feet was being restricted as she exercised. He explained what was happening to her so clearly and verified this was the reason for her severe pain. This particular vascular syndrome subsides when you stop exercising, which explained why other doctors found it difficult to pinpoint.
Using his high level knowledge, combined with years of vascular experience, Professor Lane knew instinctively Lauren's medical condition, which he then verified by looking through the medical documents. Professor Lane proceeded to present her with detailed information regarding her condition and outlining the various options available to Lauren to consider, including surgery. This included the potential risks of the complex surgery she required. He encouraged Lauren to consider all aspects of the conversation, prior to her making this important decision about her sporting future and general life and wellness.
Professor Lane went on to operate on both Lauren's legs, first her left leg and then several weeks later, on her right leg. Post surgery and months of recovery, physiotherapy and building strength and flexibility, Lauren was able to return to elite rhythmic gymnastics training and competition, and she was able to travel around the world pursuing the sport she adores. Without Professor Lane's care and surgical ability, Lauren would have been forced to end her sporting dreams. Based on our own experience with intricate vascular surgery, we would highly recommend Professor Lane. We cannot thank Professor Lane and his team enough for enabling a young athlete to achieve her goals.

I found Dr. Rodney Lane for all his years of experience to be a very poor communicator. Furthermore my leg looked worse than it did before the operation. I’ve since found out that the method in which my veins were dealt with was old fashioned. The post operative instructions were not good either. Really frustrating and disappointing experience all round. Currently having to fork out a lot more money now to fix the mess that he left my leg in.
