My experience with Dr. Leggat has left a lasting effect on me. She body shamed me both physically and verbally. She told me snappishly to “hold that” referring to my stomach, during the exam. She asked me with judgement and disdain if my husband was also fat. She went on and on about my size and weight. I was there for a check up. She was very unkind to me and here I am, five years later, afraid to go to the gynecologist because of how she treated me. My friends who referred me to her are both of average weight. They go to her and love her, so maybe she’s a good doctor for the skinny to average body types. If you have any extra weight on your body, do not go to this doctor. I was glad to read this other review because I see now that my experience was not unique.

Dr. Leggat does not communicate well. She spent most of our meeting time arguing with my previous Dr.'s prescription, even after I told her I would be willing to reduce my dosage. Most of the meeting was spent bothering me about things I was not seeing her for. She also pressured me three times to have gastric bypass when I was originally seeing her for HRT. I wear a size 18 or 20, and I did not bring up the issue of my weight to her at all. She decided that I need to have the surgery. She did not seem up to date on bioidentical HRT or on the effectiveness of the diets she was pressuring me about (unwantedly). She seemed artificially friendly, but in a controlling way. The more I reflected on her behavior, the more inappropriate it seemed.
