I came to leave a positive note, and was surprised to read some of the comments (my first time as a patient). Makes me wonder if it's the same doctor, or if people just don't know what the ER is for. I found Dr. Kwok extremely professional, efficient, to the point. He was 100% correct on my diagnosis. I was in the operating room within a day for my appendix that had ruptured. The ER was busy but I got what I expected for an emergency.

Spent so long in the ER to just be told he can’t tell me what’s wrong, but in the rudest way possible.

Dr Kwok was extremely arrogant and rude to me. This last visit is the second ER visit I’ve had with him where he was completely dismissive and seemed to stereotype me based on my appearance. During my first experience he basically alluded to the fact that my endometriosis pain wasn’t real. An ultrasound tech pushed for a referral and I finally got my diagnoses. My second visit he essentially blamed me for an incident that my blood tests ended up showing was because of something else. A horrible experience through and through. I could go on and on but there’s only so much space here.

My husband was brought to the General ER after becoming quite ill. He had advanced end-stage disease, but Dr. Kwok and his team still provided immediate and excellent attention to us. The doctor and nurses were all very caring and supportive even during end of life situation. We are very grateful for the thorough and amazing emergency care.

Most useless visit, 8 hrs wait just for this doctor to tell me to go see a walk in clinic because he can’t diagnose the pain I’m having in my stomach/abdomen… seemed very disinterested in helping

Dr Kwok was extremely arrogant and rude to me. I wouldn’t never suggest anyone to see him. His staff tried to be helpful but clearly he didn’t have any idea how to manage his practice. Was impossible to get an honest answer from him - he continuously gave me the run around. Terrible experience. Will never go back again

The E.R. was very busy. It always is . However the doctor, unlike the clerical staff did not even bother to ask why I was there. I came because I was nauseous and weak. He misjudged me and I will never go to the Emergency Department again. Most of the doctors at the E.R. are great. They ask questions and listen to you. He did not. Because of Covid the hospital is a very dangerous place to go right now. In future I will check out Apple Tree Clinics in Ottawa. My husband was with me. He goes to the Apple Tree Clinics regularly and says the doctors there are the bet

I saw Dr. Kwok when I came to the Civic ED with a nasty respiratory virus that ended up causing me a broken rib. He was very competent and efficient (I could tell he was busy, but he didn't make me feel rushed). I appreciated his manner, which was friendly and professional; and it made a really positive impression on me that he laughed with me and seemed like a genuinely nice person. If I ever end up back in emergency, I hope I'll be lucky enough to be under his care.

I have a heart rhythm issue, and require urgent shock in the ER not infrequently. I have seen different docs run the show numerous time. This was by far the slickest ever, Dr. Kwok was in charge, definitive, and it was the smoothest experience so far. I wish I could ask for him each time.

Watched him and others in the ER running their butts off, trying to see the massive numbers of patients. Yes the wait was long. Yes it was crowded. But after witnessing the various crazy and demanding patients he had to deal with, I'm surprised he still managed to be nice to everyone. He made sure nothing emergent was wrong and that's all I can ask for.
