Called for emergency apt. First words out of her mouth “do you even still need this appointment?” Didn’t once ask how was feeling or how symptoms were. Unhelpful. Not knowledgeable. Would give anything not to have her as GP

Dr fukunaga is a dr I received moving from the mainland. I am thrilled that I was able to get such a wonderful dr who is easy to talk to and is a great listener. Hard to change doctors but I am grateful that I was fortunate enough to get her…….

Have to agree with April 7 remarks. She seems stressed and overworked and a doctor with kids is quite a bit to be going on with. I know, not politically correct, women are meant to have it all!
She does look up a lot on her computer. Perhaps reassurance on the accuracy of what she is telling you?

Extremely rude and unprofessional in my opinion. Her job seems to be very overwhelming to her and it shows in her behaviour towards patients.

Dr. Fukunaga has always been wonderful. She is caring and listens carefully to you. She is very thorough and I am pleased that she is my doctor. She also follows up to see how you are doing.

I call her Dr. Google....every time I have seen her, she "googles' my symptoms....are all the Doctors practicing this way now? I could have done that myself and saved a visit!

I didn’t have a family doctor after more than 10 years living in Nanaimo. I used to see Dr.Fukanaga frequently at Caledonia on Campbell st when it was still operating and one day I asked if her if she was take me as a patient. Her immediate response was yes of course. Every time I’ve had to call her with any problem she is incredible at listening and hearing my personal concerns, especially mental health. She is extremely pleasant always and takes her time to make sure she’s addressed all of your concerns. She’s even helped other family members with mental health concerns when asked, because you can tell she is a physician who generally cares. She also works with youth for mental health to make it more accessible which I think is amazing. If you ever have the pleasure of having her as your GP, consider yourself lucky.

Dr. Fukannaga is a really good doctor. She is always made me feel comfortable and well taken care of. She is very smart and resourceful.
