I would describe Dr. Ziegler as a moody person. I have this impression that he either has a super powerful memory of each of his patients or has a secret note about them in his files. Depending on if he likes a patient or not, his mood changes significantly. I personally did not find him sympathetic (does he need it? not sure! I prefer a knowledgeable Dr. than a kind Dr. ). He does not like the patients who ask lots of questions (I personally google everything before asking him anything). I suggest you hold your emotions when you go see him (it might be hard depending on your situation, I prefer to hear things straight forward and cry when I left his office). His nurse is such a wonderful kind lady.

I had a very bad experience with Dr. Ziegler. Following his intervention on a cyst the previous day, I woke up the next morning in a small puddle of blood. Without panicking, I called 811, who recommended I contact his office directly. His office responded immediately, asking me to come back to the hospital, just in case. This was during the pandemic. Like a lot of people at the time, I was alone, tired, isolated, and feeling understandably a little vulnerable. I could not come accompanied to the hospital, due to COVID restrictions, so I made my way to the hospital in a cab.

When Dr. Ziegler came into the office, I had a few calm tears running down my face. He immediately reacted as if my tears and emotions were a direct attack on him. He told me coldly and in an accusatory tone that he didn't understand my reaction, that it's not as if he had just announced to me that I had cancer (direct quote). I was so shocked, I didn't say anything back, and went back home that day feeling profoundly disrespected, and even more vulnerable. I called close ones to share the experience. They were understandably appalled.

I (unfortunately) had to return to see Dr. Ziegler a few months later, when a new cyst appeared. The first thing he said when he came in to the examination room was "I remember you, you had an extreme emotional reaction the last time I saw you, I was sure you were going to file an official complaint against me". Again, I was stunned. I responded calmly, telling him that my emotional reaction had not been "intense", as he called it, and that I did not appreciate being shamed for having emotions, and made to feel as if I had acted hysterically, when that was so very far from reality. Without any acknowledgement of wrongdoing, he then replied defensively and arrogantly, asking me why I had returned to see him, then. I answered truthfully, that as he very well knows, our health system does not make it easy to switch specialists once we're lucky enough to have secured one, and I needed the cyst looked at pretty urgently. He didn't reply, and went on with the examination, during which I felt extremely uncomfortable.

My interactions with this "professional" were already difficult to endure at the time, I can't imagine how a woman in an even more vulnerable state could've been affected by his behaviour.

Following that appointment, I did put in an official request with my family doctor to switch gynaecologists. When I mentioned Dr. Ziegler's name to her, and explained the situation, she was not able to hide her lack of surprise. It was very evident that this was not the first she had heard of his bad bedside manners. It took almost a full year, and four follow-ups for the hospital to finally go through with the request, but I did finally get my file transferred to another gynaecologist.

No one forces doctors to choose gynaecology as a specialty. It's not just about medical skills. It is a huge responsibility. It requires humility and empathy. Your impact on your female patients is enormous. If you decide to go into this profession, you should do it knowingly, making sure you're properly educated on the specific population you're serving, and seeking out adequate (and possibly recurring) sensitivity training, if your workplace is not already providing it.

First time seeing Dr. Ziegler. I was referred to him by my GP because an ultrasound had shown that I have fibroids. I arrived on time but had to wait an hour until I was seen. He offered no apology for the wait. His attitude toward me was dismissive, telling me nothing would be done for the fibroids. Knowing that I had breast cancer and was on Tamoxifen he said that no monitoring was needed, even though my uterine lining was slightly thickened. He even made light of my breast cancer because it was stage 1. Before examining me he asked if I had ever had sex. I'm 60 and married and thought it was a needless question. I left his office upset that nothing had been done or suggested to help me. It was a waste of time.

Salam
Dr Zeigler is an incredibly knowledgeable OBGYN. It took a bit of time to get an appointment, but it was worth my wait. It would have been nice, if I had a supportive Doctor like him in my home country when I first started to have Kids.

I went to see Dr. Zeigler because I had increased reflux issues that myself and my GI thought might be linked to menopause. Dr Ziegler didn't initially agree but what I really liked about him was he was willing to listen to and consider an alternate theory and do some tests on me to find out what was going on. Turned out it was long term use of the contraceptive pill causing my increased reflux. This was another theory he had suggested in my consultation and he was right. After seeing many doctors about my reflux I was so glad to find someone like Dr. Ziegler who took the time to consider all options and do what was needed to help me. I see from other reviews that some people don't like his jokes and I agree they aren't to everyone's taste (e.g. he said to me, "why are you still on the pill? you're nearly 48." I answered, "because I don't want to get pregnant." He replied "you could be Fertile Myrtle and you wouldn't get pregnant at your age." I found this hilarious but I can see some might not). Regardless of the jokes, he's a very caring, kind and generous man who I couldn't be more grateful to for helping me, and giving me a laugh while doing it.

Amazing doctor, has been my doctor for over a decade, he has helped me giving birth and also showed true knowledge and compassion when I miscarried. His humor may not please everyone but I urge everyone to overlook this aspect and see him for what he truly is - a knowledgeable and caring doctor!
