I am a health care professional and saw Dr Bartholomew when I was a younger. I had sought sexual health support and received judgement and a remark on the number of sexual partners I had been with. If only this had been screened with less judgement and curiosity, an appropriate referral might have been made to a sexual assault service and trauma counselling. My recommendation, to Dr Bartholomew, is to have critical reflection on your professional use of self and how this might create a barrier for further help seeking of patients.

I have found Dr. Bartholomew extremely knowledgeable, articulate, organised and thorough. I find her honesty refreshing and constructive, and have never felt rushed during my appointments. I appreciate her approach to patient education, where she introduces topics relevant to my health before providing supportive informational print-outs that I can read and digest in my own time - this has significantly reduced information overload, empowered me and kept me motivated. I highly recommend Dr. Bartholomew to anyone searching for a holistic and thorough approach to health care.

I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but my lasting impression of Dr Bartholomew was that she was the height of snide specialist elitism. Reading these other reviews only confirm that I was not alone in the horrible, horrible experience I had dealing with her. At first, I was willing to tolerate Dr Bartholomew's abrupt manner, on the grounds she'd come highly recommended. But while she superficially seemed to be interested in my wellbeing, her manner sometimes leaned into "scolding teacher" territory. For reasons unexplained, she seemed borderline hostile and dismissive from the get-go. For example, when I asked if her treatment protocol would be effective for treating my SIBO, a complicating factor of me having IBS, she replied: "Shall I get out my crystal ball for you?" Dr Bartholomew then prescribed me a supplement containing high-FODMAP additives - IBS triggers! Surely a dietician would know better? Worse still, the supplements were more or less over the counter, but for some reason, Dr Bartholomew issued prescriptions that had to be fulfilled at the attached pharmacy. Surprise, surprise, they did not come cheap. Obviously a pre-existing arrangement. Given I was very ill at the time, I went to another doctor for a second opinion, and not only did Dr Bartholomew monitor the fact I'd done this - when I emailed her for follow-up details, she made an implicit threat of withdrawing her help on the grounds of not wanting "to interfere with the doctor's protocol". The other doctor had not prescribed me anything, as a matter of fact, so this charade appeared to be one of professional pride for Dr Bartholomew. Suffice to say this unpleasantness from her unnecessarily compounded my stress. You would be better off in the hands of a practitioner who genuinely cares about your wellbeing, gives you the time of the day, and doesn't seek to make a tidy profit out of your willingness to be cowed. Would not recommend.

I saw Dr Bartholomew regularly foe just under 2 years and finally called it quits after an unforgivable appointment where she was condescending, contradictory to her previous diagnosis and just plain rude at times. There had been one previous appointment like this where she seemed to be having an off day and took it out on her patient.

This is a shame as I thought she did have good advice at times. She lets herself down however with a lack of self awareness.

I did spend a fortune on all the prescriptions and other expensive formulas from the affiliated My Life My Health. I also suffered through the same stories over and over, usually about herself and paid a very expensive rate for the time.

The final session with her was very upsetting and I really don’t think she is fit to be seeing patients based on her lack of self awareness and poor interpersonal skills.

Dr Bartholomew was very rude and did not listen to me when I told her I could not take DHEA as it had previously caused hair loss, I told her I had been changed to 7 Keto for that reason but she did not listen. I was given a high dose of DHEA which I stopped after 4 days, that was a waste of $100 which they are making a nice profit from in their own My Life My Health Compounding pharmacy downstairs. Testosterone was also in the troche which also causes hair loss & when I asked her a question about the tests she had taken she told me if I didn't like it don't come back. I have since had a wonderful phone consultation with Dr Sandra Cabot who has taken me off testosterone and the high dose of DHEA and back to the 7 Keto as I had mentioned to Dr Bartholemew.

Dr Catherines helped me so much! Shes one of the best doctors I have even met and I trust her fully. She has huge knowledge and experience and helped when other doctors couldnt. I love that she didn't put me on any strong medications but we focused on probiotics and herbs instead. I recommend her to literally everyone!

I have been a patient of Dr Catherine for over 10 years. I thoroughly recommend her. Take control of your own health. Dr listens and advises options. My husband now attends after he came back with a script for blood pressure with little explanation other than "take these". He has since visited Dr Catherine and he also recommends dr highly. I have managed clinics for over 20 years until a country relocation. It is time for doctors to look outside the square and Dr Catherine is open to my own thoughts on alternative treatments. Staff at her clinic are always polite. We have recommended Dr Catherine. Dr Catherine did understand my new financial situation and recommended a suitable plan. Currently I visit once a year. My husband twice. It is a distance to travel. Dr Catherine is human also!

Dr Bartholomew is the 6th integral Dr I have visited and this will be my last as I was so pleasantly surprised to find a Dr that specialised in all areas of health. She is very intelligent, knowledgeable, articulate, organised and practical. I felt like she listened to what I had to say, she was VERY open to my ideas, likes and dislikes. She ran through different possible protocols, test, plans - she was not at all pushing they are were just options. I am very surprised at some of the reviews, it was certainly not my experience - I think it shows you should not just rely on reviews and find out for yourself - I wish I had ignored them and visited her years ago - would have saved me a pile of money and time.

I was glad to read the range of reviews here about Dr Catherine Batholomew. Reminded me that the notes of condescension I experienced during our first appt are all about her, and not personally directed at me. Had a fairly good first appt until the last few mins when I really felt condescended to. I must acknowledge though, that I was very stressed throughout the appt because of talking about my trauma history, not because of Doc's attitude. I wouldn't have been easy company. I'll attend my next appt with more understanding of her patterns. Thanx to other reviewers.

I have been a patient of Dr Bartholomew for 15 years and have always found her to be knowledgeable and helpful. She is tenacious and saved me from an unnecessary and potentially life threatening procedure following nearly 5 weeks in hospital. Countless hospital tests did not reveal the parasitic cause of the problem, but a test suggested by Dr Bartholomew (that cost less than a day in hospital) showed the problem. She presented treatment options and I have not had a problem since. My wife and 2 kids have other stories of how she identified problems - rabies virus, different parasites and a condition requiring surgical intervention.
