I had the unfortunate opportunity to meet with Dr Porte yesterday with my 13 year old daughter. She suffered a dislocated knee. She went to see Dr Porte and not only was he rude and condescending he laughed and said the emergency Doctors were overreacting because they saw benign tumour in her leg. He treated my daughter very poorly and acted as if I was being irrational for asking questions. I do not recommend this Dr seams like he’s lost his empathy for his patients.

I had 3 surgeries over 10 years on right knee. All different surgeons. Marc Porte was the final. I don't have a bad word to say. I wasn't treated like an old person and it was refreshing. My jab status was not a concern for this team. He listened when I told him about my life and challenges. Because of the difficulties I was having he needed help with the surgery and was very clear on explaining to me what was going to happen. I did have to wait 7 months for the two doctors schedules to sync. I can't say how grateful I am for getting my life back. I am sorry I didn't write down the other doctors name. He deserves a shout out as well.

My mother had surgery by Dr. Porte and she went back many times because she was in pain and he said everything was fine. She just had surgery again from another doctor and if he hadn't done it, it would have been septic.

To the writer of Aug 26/2022. Porte can run hot or cold. I saw him last Aug. for my 1 yr shoulder assessment. He was very friendly with a man on the other side of the curtain, but as soon as he saw me, he was very icy. It was a hot day, I was wearing shorts & at the time had a short haircut. He asked me to demonstrate how I could move the shoulder. I stood up & his eyes went from my feet right up to my face. There was no need for that. I have an idea as to what may have gone through his mind...but that's his problem. If it was what I think it could be then he is very wrong. If you read other comments on here, you'll find very similar remarks. It seems you didn't get the best treatment either. Good for you to get a Dr. In Toronto who was able to help you quickly.
Nobody deserves to be treated as though they are not important or their ailments to be brushed off.
I respect Porte as a very good surgeon but should I need an Ortho Dr. In the future I will not have Porte.

I felt rushed and prejudged.
It was a Friday morning appt and he did not want to be there.
Made me feel like my 4 year shoulder issue was nothing.
Did not even go over my MRI, drew me a picture. I waited 1.5 years for this appt.
No follow up, I was told to expect a call within the next week.
Still waiting for that call.
I have since seen another surgeon in Toronto, who immediately booked me for surgery within 2 weeks!
The new Dr went over my X-rays (done that day with him) and my MRI.

The writer of July 27/2022...ask your family doctor to order an MRI. You may have to wait a few months for an appointment but the sooner you can get in, the better. Also, ask to be put on a cancellation list. You mentioned experiencing numbness...if it worsens, by all means alert your family doctor & if the very worst happens..you loses sensation or you can't move the arm..then most certainly you cannot wait 'til the Summer or Fall of 2023. I had reverse shoulder replacement (left shoulder) in July/2020. Another Dr. I was seeing at the time sent me for an MRI...& I'm so glad of it, because by the time I saw Dr. Porte, he knew what was going on in the shoulder.
It took me a total of 18months to get to the point of surgery. Surgery was originally slated for April/2020 but of course was cancelled due to covid. Rescheduling got me
in for surgery July/2020. Again., don't wait if you are having a lot of numbness or
heaven forbid, you can't move your arm.
Good luck! I hope all goes well.

I saw Dr Porte for my right shoulder that locks and pops. We tried cortisone injection and that did absolutely nothing. My shoulder is bone on bone and filled with arthritis. Unfortunately. A shoulder replacement is the next step. Dr. Porte took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. Unfortunately before surgery, I will need an MRI done as I have had a shoulder repair thirty years ago and he needs to see what was done before surgery is done. I'm now experiencing numbness down my arm and have been told I'm on the list for surgery but he has to clear the backlog due to vivid first which I fully understand. He's an amazing knowledgeable dr that is worth waiting to see again. I'm just worried about the numbness as I'm right handed.
Worried damage to nerves etc may be irreparable by time I have surgery in summer or fall of 2023.

Saw Dr Porte in April 2022. Just as I was told, very professional and explained what the condition of the shoulder is and the prognosis of moving forward. Reversal is in the cards. Have lived in Barrie since 1962 and some of the athletes I have meet over the years have had great success with Dr Portes surgeries. They can’t say enough good about Marc or his work. I’m confident and looking forward to his expertise and the receptionist is very considerate and kind. What a great team, I can’t wait. Thanks to all 👍

Dr pote is not a good doctor. I asked To see a shoulder specialist over my chronic pain since 2 shoulder operations. I explained how I have been getting sharp jolts of pain through my affected shoulder into my other arm down my back into my legs. Neurological problems. He laughed at me and said that no nerves run from your shoulder to your legs. My original surgeon told me that he thoughts I had PTS. I recently looked it up. Maybe Dr Porte should too. Not very caring in my case.
