My visits with Shane have always been professional and he is extremely knowledgeable. He listens and suggests ways to ease my pain. I did physical therapy for a while, but being riddled with arthritis is very hard. He has always been open and honest. We even spoke about the opioid crisis and the measures pharmacueticals are taking. His caring and guidance has helped me. I have been a patient at Bone and Joint clinic for over 50 years and have seen several doctors, had numerous surgeries and ÈSI. Shane treats me like a person, takes time with me and I am not just a number. I would highly recommend to family and friends.

I have been seeing "Shane" for 2-3 yrs. after seeing Dr. Chiu a couple times. I must say, "Shane" was very sweet, very understanding even with the many pain issues I have, he would even stay late just to call my insurance to order a special pain lotion for me! Sad to say the lotion didnt work very good but he was kind & cared enough to do that for me. I actually kind of considered him as a friend. The first year went well until my pain started to get worse & he sent me to one of there surgeon's & I was told that i needed a total knee replacement but the surgeon told me I couldnt get the surgery until i made 60yrs. old & im 38 or I could not walk on my knee any longer! He also told me that if the pain was still bad & i continued to pass my urine test that we would increase my pain medication but when that time came, he told me that he was NOT going to change my medication at all even though my urine test were & always were just as they should be. After that his attitude changed towards me & actually made me cry at a visit after this! The medication he has me on was not working good because I was on the same medication 10yrs. prior to this because of pain problems from the past that are still present, pretty much immune to this medication! I can barely kneel on my knee any longer, can only walk for a limited amount of time or squat at all without extreme pain because of the limited amount of cartilage in my knee! My pain is a 7 or more at times but Shane is someone that i would recommend to a friend or family member! I dont think i can wait until im in my 60's for surgery but i do get some relief from the injections in my knee for a little while. Shane can be a hard a$$ at times but i know he means well!

We were introduced to Mr. Schruff by Dr. Chiu. My mother is a patient of Dr. Chiu's and Mr. Schruff (we know him simply as 'Shane') took over my mother's care from Dr. Chiu. We were a little weary at first when Dr. Chiu told us his nurse practitioner would help manage my mother but we had 100% confidence in Dr. Chiu his decision to put my mother's care in Shane's hands. Our weariness was quickly put aside during our first meeting with Shane. He is professional, personable, and one of the most caring doctors I've ever encountered. Yes, I realize Shane isn't a M.D. because it is something he reminded us of during the first few visits when we addressed him as 'doctor'. If I recall correctly, he said, "I'm a nurse practitioner, Dr. Chiu's nurse practitioner, and please, call me Shane". We honestly don't care what his title is because he embodies what we feel a 'doctor' should be. Each appointment, Shane treats my mother like she's a part of his very own family; Head-to-toe, checking on her pressure, asking about her diabetes, her medications and he teaches ALL of us every time we see him. He took his time with my mom, explained his game plan, and in the end, gave us a part of our mother back that we haven't seen in a long time. We love Dr. Chiu and we thank him for sending Shane to us. This kind of treatment is the reason we initially went to Bone & Joint, it is what we found when we were referred to Dr. Chiu and we are so very happy to continue our care with Shane.

I saw Mr. Schruff on a recommendation from a family member. I had previously been to two other doctors but my problem lingered regardless of the recommended treatment. Mr. Schruff was exceptionally thorough during his examination, and he was both professional and easy to relate to/talk with at the same time. He told me what he thought was going on and if confirmed through the lab work he ordered, he would refer me to a specialist. I received a call from Mr. Schruff on day 4 confirming his initial impression. He had also made a referral appointment for me. Again, very professional and personable, and just being honest, quite refreshing to see someone with such enthusiasm in his work.

I can't remember the last time I had a doctor's visit and actually left feeling good about the visit. Mr. Schruff (he likes to be called 'Shane') may not be a MD doctor but his medical knowledge and the way he treated me is the best I've ever experienced. My injury wasn't a 'problem' to him, it was more like something he wanted to do. I don't know if that makes sense or not but I felt like he wasn't there just for the paycheck. Shane also explains everything from what he sees, how it happened, how it needs to be corrected and the entire time he's working on you, he's asking you your thoughts like how you're feeling, your feelings about the treatment options available, and things I've never had a doctor tell or ask me. And it wasn't one of those 10 minute visits. Shane spent nearly 30 minutes with me face-to-face. And when he was wrapping things up, he taught me a few 'preventative' tips that he didn't really have to take the time to do. Nice guy, wish more were like him.
