BEWARE: This nurse practitioner called a colleague to complain about us right in front of us!
On Friday night, 3/3/23 at 5:40, we had a covid vaccine appointment for my 4-year-old daughter at the Riverside CVS Minute Clinic. We arrived early and were checked in by 5:35. There were two people in front of us when we arrived. The first person was out within 10 minutes and the second person was in for much longer. By the time the second patient exited the examination room, and it was our turn, we had already been waiting 45 minutes. For an adult, that's difficult, for a preschooler, even harder. When Randa opened the door, I asked to be seen right away as my daughter was very restless at this point (the turnaround time in between her last patient was approximately two minutes). She was abrupt, cold and told us to wait and offered no apology. We waited 10 more minutes. I went to her door and asked why it was taking so long, as I couldn't figure out why additional time was needed to turn the room around considering the quick fashion she turned it around before. She was very rude, curt and made us feel bad I was speaking up for my daughter. Again, no concern shown for our wait, or even acknowledgment for our patience. She then closed the door in my face. It turned out she got on the phone as I stood there by the door, and called up a colleague to complain about us. I stood in UTTER SHOCK as I listened to her bad mouth us -- imagine listening to your doctor say nasty things about you as a patient right in front of you! I knocked on her door and asked her why she was complaining about us -- she acknowledged what I heard and said she also had to ask her colleague about the dosing for the vaccine. Totally STUNNED I walked off with my daughter and left the appointment. There's no way I'm letting a medical provider treat us after she just took up our time to talk trash about us. She called me 10 minutes after that (almost 70 minutes after our original appointment time) to tell me she was finally ready for us. I told her we wouldn't be coming back. Not only unprofessional, it was likely against policy, most certainly upsetting, and just downright mean. Just watch out for her -- it can be hard to avoid her seeing as she mans the Minute Clinic, but at least you can be forewarned and prepared.
