Disclaimer: The staff at the Bayview Ascension Clinic are wonderful and should not be reflected in my individual opinion of the provider only but I do want HER rating to be where it should be.
I had previously seen Katherine for several years. During many visits, I felt looked over & that my symptoms were pushed aside when prelim tests didn't show easy answers. But there was little interest to find the issue or relieve me of suffering. In 2018, I needed my 2nd IUD changed after having a completely HORRIFIC & traumatic experience during its insertion. I wasn't given proper injectable anesthesia like I was when I had my 1st IUD in '08, only a topical cream. It was such unbelievable pain. So, I made it quite clear in '18 that I would need the injectable anesthesia & gave 10 days notice before my appt to make sure they could get everything that was necessary. Day of appt, she tried to get me to have the procedure w/o the injectable with a number of excuses, so much so, that I was going to walk out, then she finally relented. With that, the amount that she did give me was nominal and the procedure still traumatic. Now 2021, I am having my last IUD removed & she refused to ease the pain of the procedure AGAIN. She refused to do anything but the cream and said I would need a referral if I wanted anesthesia (that is suiting the procedure!!). I said I would absolutely take a referral. It took three weeks and multiple calls on my part just to get a name and a number. The doctor's office hadn't been spoken to by her and had no idea what I was talking about. It took THREE WEEKS to get the name of a doctor that she didn't even talk to? And why would a NP WANT someone to have a more traumatic and painful experience than necessary? Why would she WANT to make it harder for the patient to get the treatment that they need? Why would she WANT to string a patient along who is having side effects from their IUD thusly wanting it removed and therefore lengthening their suffering? I do not understand the sadistic nature of this behavior. Previous visits may have felt flippant but the insertion of my IUD in 2018 and its context and the situation surrounding her refusal to remove it in a less painful and traumatic way now in 2021 is negligent at best. I know that I did not advocate enough for myself in previous instances. Please learn from that mistake. Don't go to Katherine.
