You will be on hold forever after going through a phone tree. Speaking to a doctor will not happen. Staff will send messages to the doctor and promise to report back. Difficult to schedule. Would not refill a needed prescription in the intervening period between running out and a scheduled office visit without any advance warning that an office visit would be required for the next refill. The most unpleasant experience I have ever had with a doctor's office ever. I never leave reviews, but decided to make an exception in this instance. Leaving the patient with an unexpected gap in medication is probably the most unprofessional thing I have ever experienced. Medication was not a controlled substance and less than a year had passed since it was initially prescribed.

Had a very good experience with Dr. Shafran, and her staff is lovely. I do wish, tho, that they would be responsive to MyChart.

This doctor is unacceptable. She stopped a prescription without alerting me because I needed to see her although I had seen her within the past year. When I made an appointment for 5, they told me it was at 4:40 and then refused to see me when I have a lump in my boob.

Ms. Shafran is knowledgeable in her field, however lacks the bedside manner that I prefer for my providers. Firstly, she barged into the exam room without knocking--what if I had been changing? Secondly, her whole demeanor was curt and to the point, and she made very little effort to get to know me as a patient. She also left the room as she was still talking to me and did not ask if I have any other questions about my health. Overall, a pretty mediocre experience.

I had a great experience when I visited her, but when things went wrong she was so unhelpful. I had told her specifically that I had an issue with my birth control when I visited (it was kind of the whole point of me seeing her), and I would like to have a different brand as the brand I was using did not work with my body well (aka I had acne, mood swings, etc.) We finally settled on the brand that I thought would work for me, then when it was time for me to get it the Pharmacy kept pushing the old brand on me. I kept calling to get it changed and each call took about 30 minutes because of the automated system they have in place at NYU Langone. Then it happened again 3 months later when I wanted my prescription refilled. I was furious when I realized that they didn't disregarded my note from the last time and when I called to get it refilled I reminded them I did not want the generic brand. I did not want to be held on the phone for another hour and a half AGAIN as the tried to figure out the issue. I told the assistant on the phone to have Nurse Shafran to call me back this time because I was just dealing with staff the last time this had happened (who btw is very nice). Instead of apologizing she lectured me on how it was my responsibility to say I wanted the brand I wanted, even though I had said it several times that I wanted a specific brand. She was not kind, she was not comforting, she wasn't even understanding about the situation. When I said I feel like "I am fighting to get the right birth control every three months..." she then cut me off and said "If you are fighting that is your choice all you have to do is make a simple call when a mistake happens and we will fix it." Even though that simple call takes 30 minutes each, and sometimes they still get it wrong. After some back and forth explaining to her my issue. She rushed me off the phone saying "I feel we are going around in circles and I have patients waiting." I will not be returning as her patient and I will be looking for other gynecologists who better understand my needs. This entire experience absolutely ridiculous and had it not been for the amazing staff. She would have received one star on my end.

Great experience, she took her time answering all my question, very gentle and I did not feel rushed at all!
