I saw him once, at his stillview office, a month before the surgery at Lakeshore. He really seemed like a "good guy" & I felt reassured. But upon waking up after a wide excision of a pilonidal sinus(14cm×8cm×6cm), I immediately started screaming in agony. The nurse came over and gave me a shot of what was prescribed, she gave me 3 full doses over the next five minutes because it would wear off within 30 seconds and then all the monitors would start beeping and flashing. Turns out he prescribed weaker pain meds than what I was on for a shoulder reconstruction I was awaiting. He fitted me with a VAC. The wound took 10 months to heal but the pain has not yet stopped. I could not see him post op because his license was suspended 3days after he operated on me, some other dr took over my case and told me my pain was sciatica caused by osteoarthritis in my spine. When I told him I never had this pain pre op, despite having experienced back issues. He said it would go away once the wound was closed and healed over...It's been 9 years since then and I still have the screaming pain. I'm not even sure that it's his fault or not but I'm pissed off because I never got to see him post op. He returned to Lakeshore 3months after but not as a general surgeon, instead as gastroenterologist...he then did a very bad job at that for 3years until he was finally restricted to administrative duties only, at Verdun hospital. I get a little bit of satisfaction knowing that he hates paperwork, he actually had his license suspended 2 or 3 times for not filling out post op reports for almost 10 years. If he's ever allowed to see patients again, DO NOT ALLOW HIM TO CRIPPLE OR PERHAPS EVEN KILL YOU!

Told me not to scream because there were people right outside the door in the waiting room. Enough said.

This doctor failed me twice. First about 8 years ago when I sent to him for cysts in my breasts. His exam was so unprofessional, it bordered on sexual assault. He asked me to loosen my bra and placed both his hands in my bra and cupped and massaged my breasts during his "exam". All the while standing between my legs (I was up on the exam table) and making conversation with me about how women from my country are so beautiful. I was so repulsed that I asked my husband to come with me to my next appointment where a muted down version of the first incident happened again. I never went back to him. Then, 4 years ago I was pregnant with my first child and was admitted to the hospital because they thought my appendix had burst. I didn't know it at the time but he was the surgeon on call that day and was following my vitals. I realized it was him when he came in to tell me that he had decided to operate - right away I was worried because it was him. I called my MIL and BIL who are both nurses and told them that I was going to be operated the next morning at 6:00 AM and they both told me to wait until they could take a look at my chart. My BIL rushed over and after examining my chart he said there was nothing there that pointed to a burst appendix, when I asked the doctor about it he said that he wasn't sure it had burst but that he wanted to "take a look to make sure". I didn't know what to do, so in the early hours of the morning before my surgery I asked a nurse who came by what she would do. She told me, off the record, that she would refuse the surgery and seek a second opinion. Which is what I ended up doing, and was on my way to the RVH when Dr. Mercier popped into my room and asked if I could stay a few more hours just to monitor me. He wasn't my doctor but just happened to be there that morning and was so kind and comforting. In the end I didn't have a burst appendix, and if it wasn't for that great nurse and Dr. Mercier, I would needlessly been cut open at 24 weeks and run the risk of possibly losing my baby. I am so glad this wack job can no longer perform any major surgeries.

Terrible doctor. Never took the time to explain anything to me or answer any questions. Appointments never lasted more than 5min. Hes always punctual because he tushes everyone out of his office. Botched nearly 700 colonoscopies. I kept telling him how much pain i was always in and he told me it was normal to experience that kind of pain, that i had nothing serious and that i would have to just live the rest of my life like this. He prescribe me a medication that did nothing for me and told me that i would have to take it for the rest of my life. I now know that its because so long as i am buying the medication prescribed by him, he is making commissions off of it.

I truly do not think Dr. Gilles Bourdon should be allowed to pratice medicine - his license should be removed. My wife had surgery for a hernia and a mistake was made by the doctor at the time - the doctor performed a second surgery two days later and another mistake was made. Her life was saved at the Montreal General Hospital by Dr. Khwaja and the trauma team there. Why did the Lakeshore Hospital allow Dr. Bourdon to do so many medical procedures before being stopped? My wife is now minus a stomach and a spleen.
