Referred for fertility issues. Unfortunately my symptoms were not taken seriously enough to warrant further investigation after completing a HyCoSy where a lipoleiomyoma benign tumor was found in my uterus. TTC close to 10 months at that point. 15-20 minute appointment for over $300 to have my symptoms invalidated. Told to “just keep trying”.
Received a text msg as a follow up to not to be concerned. Still experiencing terrible menstrual symptoms.

Sought out a second opinion with a different specialist. Referred to Sydney for an Endometriosis scan.

Results: as well as having a Lipoleiomyoma. I have Stage 2 closer to stage 3 Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, and a Cyst on my right ovary with a retroverted uterus.
I am now booked for a Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.

The whole experience with this Dr. was disappointing and unpleasant. If I did not advocate for myself and stuck with my gut knowing something was wrong I would have wasted more time and money just to “keep trying”.

I would recommend anyone with suspected or known gyno issues to avoid Dr O'Rourke by all means.. especially if you suspect or have diagnosed endometriosis. He dismissed all my questions and repeatedly chose the wrong course of treatment for me. Unless he can put you (& successful pregnancies) on his god wall, he will treat you very badly and have no time for you.

If you require gynaecologist services go to another specialist. Dr O'Rourke was disrespectful to me and dismissive of my issues. After two visits I was no better off. As this was during COVID times this caused delays for me in receiving actual medical care. Also he had made me feel like as a 52 year old women this was just what you go through, so I was hesitant to go to another specialist. It was only due to my GPs concern that my life was so unmanageable that I saw another specialist. This specialist treated me with respect and has provided medical assistance and now I feel finally great again.

I received truly outstanding care from David pre-conception, throughout my pregnancy and delivery (scheduled caesarean at 37 weeks), and postpartum. I trust his judgement 100% and, for as long as David is practicing, there is no other doctor I would see for obstetric and gynaecological care. I have a complicated medical and surgical history and David was highly recommended by my other medical specialists and my GP, all of whom noted his excellent technical skills. As a patient, I also love his bedside manner - he is straight talking and funny, but also deeply caring, reassuring, sensitive and patient when the situation calls for it. In short, I can’t praise him highly enough and I would recommend him without hesitation to friends and family. I’d also add that his obstetric fee is great value for money given the quality of care his rooms provide (including his wonderful midwife and reception staff, as well as parenting and other courses offered as part of his obstetric service).

We cannot recommend Dr. David O’Rourke enough. He was very kind, caring and thorough during our struggles to fall pregnant. We wouldn’t have the beautiful baby today if it wasn’t for him. We felt very comfortable and safe in his care. He took his time to answer all of our Q’s and supported our decisions during pregnancy.

I would highly recommend Dr O'Rourke. David is open and upfront on his advice/recommendations for the well-being of your babies.

David was fabulous in his antenatal care for both my pregnancies. Both my boys arrived safely and they are both very healthy and thriving.

I've rated 4 for punctuality, as appointments were never on time, but that's to be expected. I much rather David took his time with his patients than to feel rushed and not cared for. Not to mention pregnancies aren't something you can predict so totally understandable when appointments didn't go to schedule as David had to go to the hospital and deliver etc.

Dr David O’Rourke has delivered two of my babies with one on the way. Could not recommend him enough. He is so caring , highly skilled and will always make you feel calm and safe. He also makes every effort to get a healthy baby out. Probably one of the best obstetricians in Canberra !
