Simply stated, he saved my life. I won't get into details but I strongly recommend Dr. Nkansah without any reservations. He broke through all my preconceived notions of psychiatry and seeking help within the first few minutes of meeting him for a consultation. Brilliant, old school, kind, reasonable, professional, extremely articulate and intelligent. Thank you for what you've done and continue to do for me on my journey to recovery.

My child left his office sweating and crying, unkind and unprofessional! Will not return to this filthy office where I had to sit on a pee stained chair chair. Was wondering why we got a referral so quickly, clearly because NO ONE should be going to this man for help. He has set my child back and undid everything we have been working on....he should be ashamed to call himself a DOCTOR! Therapy? What therapy, nothing but a pill pusher!

He took 2 personal calls during 2 separate sessions. Both times I thought - maybe its an emergency? Then it ended up being telemarketers!
He is also offensive. He suggested I go out with friends - then he said "oh I forgot you don't have any friends" and snickered
He goes on and on talking about concepts instead of asking me relevant questions. I just want my prescriptions. Never want to see this doctor again.

Dr. Nkansah is an amazing psychiatrist that is only thinking of his patients at all times. He is patient, kind, understanding and always listens intently to what you are saying. He works diligently to assess your situation and to help you to understand you problems and works with you to come up with a solution and continues to monitor you until your situation is resolved. I have been a patient of Dr. Nkansah for well over 10 years and I can say I would not be here today if it were not for him. He is always consistently my rock and I can always rely on him to be here for me, to listen to provide guidance and to monitor my situation. I can't imagine my life being in any type of level state without him. He is always available should I need him. I can't say enough about this amazing doctor. He is so sought after and so busy that he has to turn away patients unfortunately. It is a shame that not everyone can be so lucky as myself to have him for a psychiatrist.

First off, I've never had any of the issues that other reviewers have experienced here. I found that Dr Nkansah, while passive in his interactions, allows you to honestly and openly discuss your feelings, and then works with you to help overcome or improve those issues.

Secondly, despite what some of these reviews appear to be looking for, he won't outright come out and give you step-by-step instructions on "how to make your life better", because that doesn't often work in my experience. He has also advocated against the use of medication, at least in my case, and seemed to prefer the idea of treating the issues themselves through discussion and mental exercises.

Now, I don't know much about psychiatry (at least as much as these other reviewers seem to think they do), but from what I have experienced, Dr Nkansah was able to help me with my anger issues, my depression and my suicidal thoughts. I'm not going to say they're "all gone" or that I'm "cured", but I definitely feel much better than where I was before seeing him.

My only complaints were that once (in a year of seeing him regularly) I had to wait for 15 minutes while he took extra time to help someone who was clearly upset, and that his secretary is hardly ever there. If you're impatient or require unfailing punctuality/instant communication, you may have an issue here.

All in all, if you're going to this doctor for some miracle cure, I'd advise against it. If you're willing to put the work in and look at yourself deeply and introspectively, and are willing to accept that you need to actively take a part in your own mental health, then I would definitely say give him a try. Just be honest with yourself and your answers and don't expect instant solutions.

He doesn’t know much. He just listens and asks questions that is all he doesn’t give you next steps or anything. He is incompetent.
