After he was 45 minutes late for my appointment, he didn't believe the issues I was facing without "proof" and told me to buy a fitbit or cpap machine, when I raised financial concerns he told me to "ask santa". He said he would refer me to QEH for a sleep study but this never happened.

First appointment was brilliant ,he said i needed to build a team of drs i could trust , next appointment was a completely different experience , blood pressure was 190/110 so couldn't complete the test , he stood over me from his side of the desk and told me i was going to have a heart attack unless i bought the cpap machine which he knew i couldn't afford , he ushered me out the door and told me to come back when i had money , i was in shock to be treated like that, hes a disgusting human being , go somewhere else i just wish i had read the reviews first

diagnosed with sleep apnea then narcolepsy, Was told that with cpap use and meds I will have heaps of energy and will be pregnant at my next appt. He nearly overdosed me on a trial drug. Lucky I have done more research on it than he has. Told me this is my life get used to it, there is nothing more I can do. New sleep specialist has now given options of medications and more investigating. Wish I changed years ago. After driving 40 mins and then sitting for 30-60 mins in the waiting room every appt for someone with narcolepsy is an absolute nightmare.

Have seen Dr Chia for years now, after the death of my previous doctor. My sleep apnea was so bad, I kept falling asleep every time I stopped at the traffic lights - I had to stop driving. Yes - he's always late. He comes from the hospital, so cannot always just leave. But I have never felt as if he doesn't listen - in fact, the opposite. He's straight forward, which I appreciate, and gives simple answers to my many questions. The cost was known before I went to him, and I have never objected to paying because I feel I get value. And staff explained I would be out of pocket a lot if I didn't have hospital cover. But I and everyone else is now safe on the road.

I, as a male found Dr Chia ok and helpful. Waiting times I agree are bad but I’m used to it. Staff can be bulldogs at the door, rude and need to find a happy place

Made me wait for over an hour, and didn't apologise for being late, or even acknowledge it. He rattled off a few facts about sleep apnea and how unhealthy it is, told me to buy, not rent, a CPAP machine, and sent me on my way with a hand-written referral for a CPAP fitting and test, which is exactly what my GP did. Only difference is she didn't charge me $120 for the privilege.

The worst experience ever and could not wait to get oit of his consulting room. Dr Chia made me wait over an hour. The first time I met him was to get the results of my sleep study and when he discovered I was on a centrekink benefit and did not have private health, his advice to me was, and I quote 'you should go to sugardaddy.com' and 'you need a sugar daddy to pay for your CPAP machine'. He repeated these statements more than he spoke about my actual results of my test. I am sure he thought he was being funny but I found it very degrading and will be finding another specialist.

Everything you've heard about this guy is true.
I was travelling back home and needed to see someone for my skleep problems - so someone suggested Michael Chia. Taking that advice was the worst mistake I've made in a while.
Dr Chia had a really bad bedside manner and really won't give you more than 5 minutes. He made me feel small and insignificant. And then he refuses to see you in a timely manner for the results. My experience was the same as the others - terribly bad experience. I'll be seeking help elsewhere.

Had a very bad experience with this doctor. He ordered a very expensive exercise test for me, and then failed to make an appointment to review the results. When I phoned the rooms I was given an appointment 7 months after the test. During the course of the test itself it became apparent that he had not taken a proper note of my symptoms during the initial consultation. Very bad experience overall.
