Biography
Rajen Desai MD is a board certified cataract and glaucoma surgeon with the Witlin Center for Advanced Eye Care. Dr. Desai graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. from Stanford University, followed by a M.D. from the Stanford School of Medicine. He completed residency, chief residency, and glaucoma fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago. With over 17 years of experience in vision research, Dr. Desai has produced over 40 peer-reviewed publications and presentations across the country. In 2007, he served as Study Co-Chair for Genentech on innovating treatments for improved glaucoma surgical outcomes. In 2013, he earned the Society of Heed Fellows Award, one of only 5 honorees in the nation. Dr. Desai brings the latest advances of vision research to the operating room, including laser-assisted cataract surgery, advanced technology intraocular lens implants, and microinvasive glaucoma surgery. Passionate about producing excellent surgical outcomes and explaining surgical decisions, he received both the “Patients’ Choice Award” and the “Best Teacher of Medical Students Award.” He also serves as a consultant to surgical device companies Gore and New World Medical. Other physicians, optometrists, and nurses regularly trust Dr. Desai to perform cataract and glaucoma surgery on their own parents’ eyes. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Glaucoma Society, the Society of Heed Fellows, and the American College of Surgeons. When not in the office, Dr. Desai enjoys spending time his wife and daughters, and photography.

Was a followup visit after having laser surgery. My pressure in left eye was 36 and after procedure is now 11. I almost broke down in tears how well procedure rent. I will be forever thankful to Dr. Desai for his professionalism and knowledge. He is an excellent and caring doctor. Highly recommend.
